I want to do something nice for my girl this year that will not require a great deal of money...

Money is a little tight at the moment, but I don't want to let that ruin her day...

    Any ideas?

you could send her an e-card and save yourself $1.50 you would have spent on the paper version:D

Well, last year I spent $90 on roses and had them delivered to her job. I also took her to dinner and spent close to $60 there.

I'm looking for something in the $30-$50 range...

    Get some skills.

Girls like guys with skills. You know, nun chuck skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills.

Instead of taking her out for dinner, I guess you'll have to just cook her something really nice. Candles are pretty inexpensive, so buy a bunch of them, fill your pad with them and cook her a nice dinner with dessert too. I don't know...maybe to cliche?

That's a good idea Faos about the cookie delivery thing! Flowers are classic, but having homemade cookies in like a basket or something in which she can share with her female co-workers makes you look pretty good in everyone's eyes!

That would depend on where you live. Here I would freeze my behind off trying to do that. But I do go out and catch them in the summer.

Last year I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a straw wreath and some artifical pink, red & white roses. A cut most of the stems off leaving about 5-6 inches below the bulbs. I then stuck all of the cut flowers all around the wreath to where the stems tangled in the web of straw. Anyway, when I was done, it was a decent lookng "Valentine's" flower wreath.

It may sound completely gay or Martha Stewart-like, but I'm telling you, it was cheap (around $30-$50) and fast (I slapped it together in a bout 20 minutes). Plus, she LOVED it because I made it and didn't just buy some generic card or same old roses. It has become a keepsake for her since the roses don't die, so it's something she will always have.

LOL, anytime she starts nagging about me not doing anything romantic or whatever as much, I just point straight to the wreath and she shuts up. LOL. Little does she know how little effort and money I actually put into it. :)

This reminds me of a guy I used to work for...

Each Christmas, he would go to a department store and buy his wife bunch of clothes (completely regardless of style) that he new were way too small for her.

On Christmas, she would open her gifts and thank him for them, but would ask him why he bought such small sizes. He knew she'd ask and he would answer, "Well, to me, they looked about your size." His wife would be incredibly flattered and loved him for it. He also knew that she would return all the clothes to the store and go buy whatever she wanted instead.

His Christmas shopping involved almost no thought whatsoever, he would get his shopping done in about one hour, and he ended up looking like a hero for it.
