i'm just gonna assume all power hitters are juicing. i have lost all respect for the players union. i don't want to know who all is doping, i just want them to test everyone, all the time. this is no longer america's favorite pasttime, it's reality TV starring a bunch of puffed-up junkies. what am i gonna tell my sons?

It's interesting that the "evidence" is comparing photos of 20 year old kids to 35+ year old men.

You're right, it's all in our heads

I'm one that believes most pro athletes dope, the body types of athletes today is just so much bigger than even twenty years ago along with the fact that their athleticism is only gotten better.

I'm not saying that it's not possible for them to be doing steroids, just that your argument would be better served if more dramatic changes were shown. Say, over the course of two-four seasons rather than an entire decade.

Also, hasn't strength training been emphasized more the past twenty years than it used to be? Is it that hard to believe that professional athletes can get their muscle by working out?

Agree. The photos don't cement the fact for me. It's too easy to put on wight or muscle from age 18 to 35. These althetes have nothing better to do with their time than lift weights. It becomes like eating.

As previously mentioned, its not the ability to bulk way up like a bodybuilder that's in question. It's the ability to do so while playing baseball in the mid to late 30s and early 40s and still avoid the injuries that in times past have put players of that age on the IL or even ended careers. Steroids can help those guys get through the 162 game season.

For me, it's not the bigger bodies that clue me into the idea that they're juicing. A 35 year old that hits the weights for 15 years is going to be bigger than a 25 year old that hits the weights for 5 years. The thing that gets me is the difference in the size of their heads, and their bigger guts. Those are both apparantly telltale signs of steroid use. Steroids promote organ growth along with muscle growth, whereas lifting weights doesn't.

The Giambi before and after is priceless!

Look at Hakeem at 22 and at 32.

Look at Shaq at 21 and now.

    Alonzo Mourning.

    Karl Malone.

    Ben Wallace.

    Chris Webber.

    Antawn Jamison.

    Theo Ratliff.

    Erik Dampier.

Heck, Yao Ming from 2 years ago until now.

Those pictures prove nothing. (Except Giambi)

Steroids help you workout harder and recover faster, this is critical for someone aged 33 and up.

So how could steroids not help someone extend their career?

Also, were known steroids users such as Giambi and Caminiti better on or off the juice?

Hakeem is not a very good example of your point

Yeah, AntiSonic, the "evidence" is that, and Giambi's sworn testimony in front of a federal grand jury in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California that he used steroids.

Shaq? Yeah he got much bigger, bigger and fatter.

Most of those guys don't show the kind of dramatic muscle growth that you see here, with the exception of maybe Malone - who I wouldn't put Steroid use past. Ben Wallace too. In fact, maybe they did use roids. What's your point?

True. Steroids can't give you the gift to hit a baseball, but they can help keep you in the batter's box.

Hey Sammy, when you rejoin the dark side, do you want the Cubs, or any random available squad?

I'm surprised he didn't say anything about Barry Bonds. It's only a matter of time before his name will be brought down with the rest. Baseball is a fishy sport, which sport doesn't want a fair playing field? The answer is: baseball! No salary cap and a mediocre drug testing plan.

Didn't Bonds make most of his gains after he was 38?

The Cubs! If they're available. If not, whichever erstwhile rounders squad that, in your magnanimity, you see fit to bestow upon my humble personage.
