1 (1) Spurs 38-10 This will be Pop's first All-Star game, but this is far more important: Pop and Larry Brown are the only active coaches with a championship ring now that Rudy T. has resigned.

2 (2) Suns 38-11 Knowing Nash, whether or not he gets to start in place of an injured Kobe, he's seriously bummed that D'Antoni won't get to return to Denver as the West's coach.

3 (3) SuperSonics 32-13 Sonics have to hold firm up here, with a fat division lead and a 7-2 record vs. Spurs, Suns, Kings, Mavs and Heat.

4 (5) Heat 35-14 Shaq can make all the jokes he wants about Don Nelson being 'the Jack Haley of his era,' but the irony is this: Heat can only dream it had a sixth man as reliable as Nellie was.

5 (6) Mavericks 31-15 Nellie returns Tuesday vs. Chicago after Avery's splash as a fill-in, and here's his first task -- Dallas must improve on its dismal 1-5 record vs. Spurs, Suns, Sonics and Kings.

6 (4) Kings 32-15 First it was Brad Miller, and now Bibby is trying to make West coaches take notice of how he's carrying injury-ravaged Kings.

7 (11) Rockets 28-21 The only team this season besides Seattle to beat San Antonio twice just completed a 4-0 week, with three of those victories on the road. Looks like they're getting it.

8 (7) Grizzlies 27-21 Furious George is getting all the fresh pub, but don't sleep on Czar Fratello, who was 22-28 in his Cleveland farewell (lockout season of '99) . . . and who's 22-10 with Grizz.

9 (8) Pistons 28-19 Whine all you want to, Detroiters, but you have some nerve complaining about All-Star support here given the committee's leniacy so far, at just a half-game ahead of Wiz.

10 (10) Cavaliers 27-19 So, East coaches, tell us: Do you regret leaving LeBron off last February's All-Star roster yet?

The Rocket's are playing well, and I am surprised there is not more excitment on the board. There appears to be more threads, more postings, and more energy when we they are not doing well!!??

When we're not playing well, people post to try to discover insight as to our poblems (players? coach? strategy? skill? management? etc...)

But when we win, and we're doing things right... well, we can't post about that stuff as much. Mostly we can just post to say "great win" or something like that, which is just a waste of time.

yeah you can only say you love this team a certain amount of times before the homo factor sets in. Also, I htink someo peple are still afraid that the Rox are just going through a lucky streak, so they dont wanna say something that might come back t haunt them

When they're winning, you just sit back and enjoy the ride. Some people still need something to gripe about, so they go back and dig up articles from ESPN and SI and try and rub into the writers faces for saying the Rockets weren't doing well at first.

I think we are playing awesome ball right now and im very excited about the direction of this team.

Remember last year when we discussed often that if we could control our turnovers we would be a dangerous team.

We seem to be getting much better in that regard this year.

Our lack of turnovers is what the won the LA game for us. We got crushed on the boards, but the lack of mistakes gave us the edge.

Does anyone think the Sonics will be able to keep it up? There is just something about that team that I think there will be a meltdown.

They really haven't shown any signs of a meltdown, but I sure hope they have one.

I feel we might be able to move up in the rankings as our competitors have a tough stretch of games coming up while we have .

Wed, Feb 9 Chicago 8:30 pm
Fri, Feb 11 at Indiana 7:00 pm
Sun, Feb 13 Portland 8:30 pm
Tue, Feb 15 Washington 8:30 pm
Tue, Feb 22 Seattle 8:30 pm

We should be able to continue our win streak to 8 and maybe lose to Seattle but I wouldnt bet on that.

Would that push us up over Kings or Mavs?

You'd think a team without much of an inside game would eventually go through dry spells. It'll prolly happen in the playoffs, when perimeter D is more physical.

Ray Allen carried the bucks a long way before. I suspect they are for real.
