Dan Marino is a great QB

    S. Young is a very good QB. I really don't think Young should a HOFer. Really he only had one outstanding year. The year he won it all but for the most part he was very good but HOF good enough.

Even though Marino never won the SB his stats speak for themselves. Marino HOFer no doubt.

    what?

As a starter with SF, he threw 198 TDs and only 80 INTs in 9 seasons.

He had 6 years with a QB rating over 100.

Highest overall QB rating of all time.

Its a tough call, but I lean toward Young just because of his versatility.

Want a QB that puts up passing statistics? Young has the best passer rating in NFL history. Better than Marino, better than anyone. I say "passer rating" because a rating that doesn't include rushing / scrambling ability or team success isn't a complete "QB rating".

Now add in rushing. Young was an impressive scrambler, a better runner than pretty much any QB in his era except Cunningham, a guy who regularly added that extra diminsion to the game. Marino was a nonmobile target in the pocket.

Team success? Steve Young won a superbowl, a superbowl in which he threw for a record 6 touchdowns. Marino's only super bowl appearance included 1 touchdown and 2 INTs.

The only thing Marino has over Young was longevity and aggregate statistics, and a good part of that can be attributed to the fact that Marino never had to sit on the bench behind Joe Montana, perhaps the greatest big game QB of all time.
