Soccer couldn't be any worse than today's NBA. Now that's boring. In basketball, you really only need to watch the last two minutes of the game. The other 46 are a waste of time.

    1) Soccer
    2) NBA
    3) Track and Field (at the Olympics)

I can watch American Football once in a while, but baseball is unbearable for me to watch.

That is, unless I am in a baseball stadium with friends, watching it live, eating a lot of hotdogs and getting completely drunk so that I won't even know anymore (and won't care, either) whether I am watching baseball or American football.

I don't hate it, it's fun to watch kids play it. My daughter, after 5 years of softball, last spring she decided to play soccer. During the middle of her second game she came to me and said she wanted to go back to softball. Like I said I don't hate it but, it's down on my list.

I've been playing longer than many of you have been alive. I love the game. I played football, baseball and basketball. I always came back to soccer. I don't watch a ton lately, but I always like to catch a Man U game here and there. I do follow the Mens National Team closely. I also have a friend that is playing in the MLS, so I watch his games.

It truly is a game that you have to understand to enjoy watching it on tv. Sometimes, it's the buildup that is the most amazing thing to watch.

the reason america doesn't like soccer is because american tv networks refuse to show it. Soccer games have to be commercial free (except for halftime) so there is very little money to be made in terms of advertisements.

Seriously....americans LOOOVE baseball, and we call soccer boring? It's ridiculous. Baseball is the most boring game to watch ever. I'd rather watch poker on espn than watch the world series. Maybe even the spelling bee on espn.

If you guys really understood baseball you would like it. It is all about the buildup, and that can be even more exciting than actual pitches and hits. :p

I think it perfectly safe to say........No, I wouldnt.

I couldnt care less about it...no matter who wins.

We win at a half-dozen other sports in the Olympics all the time...and I dont care about them either.

    Fútbol guy here. LOVE IT.

"What do you play in Africa... CHASE THE MONKEY...?"
"... especially the way you guys bounce the ball of your heads... "
Yeah, well, I don't like any sport where you don't use your hands... " (name the Movie)
    -----------------------------------
Soccer - keep moving, lose your fat, you're an ultimate athlete, use your brain for smart plays
Baseball - wait your turn 9 times to hit a little ball and get it past 3 guys, go ASTROS!!!!
Football - rest every down, only sport where big dumb dudes can play, has an average of about 12334 breaks in the action, I love my TEXANS
Basketball - exciting (the only sport gaining popularity against Soccer in the world), GO ROCKETS!!!
    :D
    ------------------------------------

Ya'll don't like it because there aren't enough commercial breaks... :) We'll bring in the cheerleaders... just to make it "exciting"
    ------------------------------------

Freaking U.S. announcers have to say: "THIS GAME BROUGHT TO YOU COMMERCIAL-FREE by Nike..." WTF??? You don't hear the MEXICAN or the BRITISH announcers EVER ever saying that... there are commercials on the sides of the field, on the players' jerseys, behind the goals, etc., so that's how advertisers get theirs...

    ------------------------------------

I used to be a U.S. National Team hater from the beatings my Mexican team has gotten in the past few years, but they've earned my respect, because they're gaining fast not only in popularity, but in skill and technique. I guess the hate came because most of the '90 and the '94 team was non-US-born players nationalized just to play in the U.S.

    ------------------------------------
I remember in 1994, this f*cking *ssh*le, a columnist for the then still working HOUSTON POST or the CHRONICLE or I forget whom it was, was the correspondant to the World Cup Championship game in Pasadena's Rose Bowl... and he came back with the dumbest recap of the game.

Granted, it was a commentary, but he went off about how boring the game was and how he couldn't understand the game, and how much time "was wasted" in soccer and about how he couldn't understand why so much passion for a game that lasts so long and doesn't have timeouts... crap like that... news of this got out to parents of kids who play soccer, who are barely learning the game... parents who play themselves... professional players... people with "passion" like that... this mo' fo' was almost getting death threats back on the Sports Editorials, people telling him:

"I hope I don't see you on the street... you don't do this to any sport, Mr. Fowler... whether it's cricket or soccer or baseball... it's just not good for you... why say that about a sport for which my son has a new interest... he sees the women play well, and the men beat Colombia in a match that causes a guy to lose his life, and you say it's boring... MR. SPORTS EDITOR, I hope Mr. Fowler doesn't have a job that allows him to do this anymore... blah blah [the good kind]..." and even more stuff like this. I mean, I don't remember if anyone ever cut out the editorials or the MAIN COLUMN he wrote, but everyone who wrote back filled about two (2) pages of responses toward Mr. Fowler... it was unbelievable... everybody wanted his head... I was laughing with most of the responses, but not because they were outrageus, because I felt just like eveyrone else writing those essays and responses.

Does anyone remember this? I hope I can find the column so I can post it back.

I know that I wouldn't chastize soccer, and most of you dudes here do it in a friendly manner, and we've seen YOF threads or JVGOF fan threads where arguments break out, but what that columnist did was anger a whole Soccer Country... it was for the ages...

This is the same for soccer, it is not about the scores, it is about the chances to score....the opportunities etc.

That is the entire game, and the beauty of it.

    Love it.

IF you play you love it. I grew up in England. Came to states. Dominated U.S. kids. Scored 4 goals a game. Got called up to Varsity in 8th grade and then, ironically, scored a goal versus the English traveling team. Ha ha. But then my true love. Basketball. Just took over. And soccer took a back seat to the best game on the planet.

Was my favourite 6, 7 years ago. You guys have to watch world-class soccer games like European Championship league, World Cup and European Tournament, etc. If all you can watch is MLS, I understand why you lose interest in this sport.

    3. College basketball

Baseball is boring, 150+ games every season for each team is unbearable, but I don't mind watching more Yankee games because they usually kick asses, and playoff baseball games are fun.

American Football. Not interested. I only watch SB. I think there are too many equipments and too many interruptions.

Hey I LOVE soccer compared to hockey! I have played soccer and sucked ass at it. I've been to games and was floored bored. And I watch the World cup and drink beer with all of the different foreign folks and follow their lead hootin' and hollerin'. I have partied with Belgium people, Brazilian people, and of course, Mexican folks and LOVED the beer drinking experience during international soocer. I just didn't like the soccer.

Thanks. Maybe we should just throw a huge, 65,000-people BEER party, and a soccer game will break out.

Last year's America vs. Santos game drew the largest non-national team crowd with 28,000. I went to the U.S. vs. Mexico game in June of 2003 and we were 65,00. "LuckyyyyYyy...!"
