Did you guys caught the JVG interview towards the end of the T-Wovles game? He went on to defend Yao from all of the criticism and said Yao is trying to become the first player of his size to develope into a complete player instead of falling into what everyone else wants him to be... a one dimensional post player. He also said Yao is improving steadily and don't understand why people won't give him a chance being an 18/9 guy is rare. After the brief interview they show clips of all the giants like Manute Bol, Geaorge Muresean,Ethan and Bradly..which none have the skill like Yao. I have to give props for JVG for sticking up for Yao. The commentator(black guy) praises Yao most of the time and said he has finally found his game and making an impact. Its rare other than Walton would say good things about Yao during a game.

yep i saw it, brought a smile to my face. I think national exposure is a good thing. I mean yao played like crap in the nets game and a couple of other earlier games and he's gotten bashed so hard for those. People all of the net is calling him a bust, and that he sucks. Then he comes back with a game like the one in orlando and then another one like this. It's good.

Did anyone catch that weird quote that Snapper kept repeating as T-Mac missed those two free throws? I watched the majority of the 4th/OT on FSSW but I turned it to ESPN a couple of times and heard him say something like "If you leave the door ajar, ......don't remember the rest.

Yes, and he kept repeating it over, and over again. Thank you for clearing that up. It sure is a really weird quote though.

The expectation on Yao does seem quite high. But since he is NO.1 overall pick, so expectation are expect to be high. If he is No2..., fans may be happier on his production. When we look at what most other NO.1 picks did along with the skill level that Yao have, I don't see why we cannot expect more from him.

ironically, the previous No1 overall pick, Candy man, has 6 fouls in 9 scoreless minutes. And we haven't heard any criticism on that guy.

That reminds me of the late, great Bill Hicks riff on the experience of being in a talking car ("the door is ajar") while on acid.

"How can a door be a jar?"

you must have missed the interview with Jim Peterson (wolves commentator and former Rocket) on 610 this week - Matt made a comment about taking Mo Taylor and Jim said where would he play

then he said "we'll give you Candy for him" and laughed (expecting the houston guys to laugh like there would be no way the Rockets would want him for Mo)

    instead, there was silence -

I guess a lot of teams have Mo Taylor's on thier benches

Unlike Yao, Kandy man is not consensus No1 pick in that year. and people never consider him a franchise center since he never show he could become one.
Kandy man did take plenty of critism in LA because lack of production and lack of desire to play the game.

FYI, a lot of people questioned Yao's pick too. Barkeley was so vocal on spot that I wanted to yell STFU to his face.

It's very encouraging to hear the coach make comments like these. I hope he will better and become a consistent star for us.
I have never thought of him becoming a superstar like Hakeem but it would be wonderful to see him being a part of a championship team someday.

Yes, it's a start. Now Van Gundy needs to defend him more publicly in regards to the fouls called against him and the fouls not called against his defenders.

No it's all Yao's fault. Sura has no fault whatsoever. Don't even let it cross your mind or you will burn in hell. It's Yao's fault to be 7'6". How in the world can he overshadow Sura the Warrior? It's Yao's father's fault to marry his tall mother. It's Yao's fault to date another taller woman with the grave consequence of breeding double faulty 7'9" kids. Yao needs to breed with female boxers to have kids of extremetly high pain threshold, so that the golden and sparkling clean poster boy with no fault whatsoever everyone's role model aka Bobby the Sunshine boy Sura with 35 halos stacked on top of his head will be duplicated, pain free and tall!
