I took a look for the hell-of-it The BBS above has a note that most users ever online was 363. I may be reaching . . but that must happen on a weekly basis here at Clutchbbs. Congrats Hornets on selecting Tim to Boost the fan base
I want your job, Tim. Got to have that job. Marketing for the Rockets? That's some hell yes. "Sure, Van Gundy sucks, but hey, give it a few months, or a year, and he'll be fired! Hang in there! Hey, how 'bout some courtside tickets? (pause) Waddaya mean, 'no'? They're free! (pause) Waddaya mean, 'no'?!"
Hey guys, posting on behalf of Tim. I mentioned at his going away party that there was a thread dedicated to him. He said that it suprised him that one would exist. There are still problems accessing the BBS from Toyota Center, so that's why he hasn't been able to post. His stuff is packed up, as is his home computer. So I just copied and pasted the entire thread to his email so that he could respond. I will probably be posting his reponses via my user name, ghost-posting if you will. Just some thoughts on my end. He has really enjoyed his time here, and he put together an excellent staff if you ask me. New O will be a challenge for him, and he is excited to start a new stage in his career. He has already started posting on the Hornets BBS, forgot which one, though. I told him his first order of biz should be to change the logo, or maybe even get the Jazz name back! Well Tim (the original T-Mac) we'll miss ya, and best wishes in the Big Easy. blu
Hah. Yes, this town was only big enough for one T-Mac. So guess who had to leave. The admins have been kind enough to put a little spit and polish on my account (refresh the password, change the e-mail link to a non-Rockets one, etc.) and I'm all back online again. Thanks for all the kind words. The last few weeks have been a big blur -- transitioning everything over that I had at the Rockets, jumping into New Orleans issues, putting one house up for sale and buying another, etc. The staff at the Rockets, not just my staff but especially George Postolos (Rockets President and CEO) and Les Alexander, have been extremely supportive in this move. I have a lot of respect for them both, I owe them a lot, and they've been great. And I don't expect the marketing staff to miss a beat -- we spent 3.5 years building that staff into one of the best marketing groups in the league, and they'll carry on just fine. For those that have asked, yes, the position is a big step up. Essentially, my position at the Rockets (VP Marketing) ran all the non-sales marketing functions -- advertising, consumer research, promotions, public and community relations, broadcasting, game presentation, etc. The position of CMO runs not just marketing but all of sales as well, and reports directly to the owner. The person with the responsibilities I held at the Rockets would report to the CMO. It's an organization that faces a lot of challenges, but there is a ton of upside. Remember, during their first decade or so in Charlotte, they were viewed as a model franchise. Shinn knows what that takes, and if you've followed the news, you're aware that he just got back to the same single owner structure they had originally in Charlotte. They want to be great again, and they doing some of the hard things they need to do to get there. Shinn made a believer out of me when I met him, and I'm committed. There's no reason it can't be a great franchise there. As for the Rockets, it's a big compliment to how strong that organization has become that other teams are now looking to them for senior management talent. So ... I'm still in Houston for the next couple of days. Currently watching the Rockets-Wolves game (flipping between ESPN and FSN), and taping the Hornets-Golden State game so I can spend more time breaking it down later. That'll be for when I finally get too tired to keep packing boxes. Thanks again for all the support here. I'll still be checking in, just not as a member of the Rockets organization. And I'll be checking in on hornetsreport.com as well -- I've already been reading them regularly, although I haven't posted yet. And no, no truth yet to the rumor that the Rockets are going to bring a former Knicks marketing guy out of retirement to take my place. Peace love and hair grease, Tim
Tim, Thanks for everything. You made us all feel more like a part of the team. Good luck with your new job and life in a new town. You will definitely be missed.
Cheers Tim! It was great to have you participate in the community here like you have. Good luck in N.O. Too bad you're leaving the Rox just as they're taking off.
LOL! No WAY! I have seen that style somewhere before, I think while I was driving down US 59 Boki 6-Pack? CLASSIC!
