For some reason I've always been more impressed by the acrobatically challenging dunks than just those where one much taller and/or higher jumping guy dunks over a smaller/lesser jumping guy, especially when said dude isn't trying to block him or anything. The dunk was nasty, though.
I gotta agree with DD. It was a fast break and he went up over a guy who had no chance to do anything about it. Big whoop. It was a fantastic looking dunk... but it's not a real posterization. The way it was being described here, before I saw it myself, I thought it happened in the half-court set, against some real defense. Now, THAT would have been something.
the tnt guys gave jones the new nickname "highlight." lol. and yes that was a posterization. when another dude's crotch is in your face as he's tearing the rim down on a slam dunk, that's a posterization. the only thing that makes it seem less impressive is that it was just so damn easy for james to do because he gets so high and is so strong. even when they were talking with him after the loss he had to try to hold back the laughs when they brought it up.
That was sick lol....Jones should have let McCinnis just go and have a layup or grab him and foul so he didn't have to get posterized like that.
What I find more impressive is how he baited Jones into throwing the pass to the corner...where he could just intercept it and take it the other way for the touchd...er, slam.
Yeah, this dunk didn't really impress me all that much either. I love Lebron, but for me to consider a dunk an actual posterization, the defensive player needs to be TRYING to stop the dunk first. Sure, Jones went up, but when he realized he couldn't stop it, he just tried to get out of the way. Were it an atheletic big man going up to block and not back down, and Lebron STILL slams it home all in his face, then THAT would have been something to marvel at.
Lebron is a good dunker, but he may never win the dunk contest. His dunks lack creativity IMO. All his highlight dunks are straight up, straight down, one hand tomahawks. No, he is not in the class of MJ, Carter or all other great dunkers, His dunks are more powerful maybe, but not as beautiful as MJ's or Carter's.
Well, we've never really seen try and show off. Did he participate in the McDonald's all american dunk contest? Maybe we can get an idea of what he can do.
He had some nifty dunks in the Rookie game last year and he's got ups...his head is almost always above the rim
Ya he won it, but it was not creative. all he had to do at that level was jump way up and almost rip the rim off. impressive from an athleticism aspect, but not creative.
Chalk me up in the not that impressed group. Any one of a couple dozen NBA players could have made that dunk.
