Mo T is a beast in the paint in Live 2k5 :D Oh how i wish it were realistic. I think MoT lacks confidence this season and with that he might be slacking since he could never really get out of his slump. Padgett is clearly playing the PF position better than MoT has.

Mo Taylor is an outsider in the realm of The Bod Squad

That's what I've been thinking. If we're not going to use him, do a buyout and be done with it. Then he can sign on with some other team for the minimum and go from being reviled by his fans for the lowest production per dollar on the team to being loved by his new fans for having the highest production per dollar.

That never really crossed my mind, but that's a valid point...

    How do buy-outs typically work?

They should of traded him last year, when his value peaked at the end of the season. Wasn't he close to being the runner up on the 6th man of the year? That was the time to trade him.

generally a player who is under contract will only accept a buy out if there is some external motivation (chance to play somewhere else, etc.) - the players will not just take a buyout to help the team who signed a bad deal - they have to get something in return. If Mo does NOTHING for the next 2.5 year he will get his 22+ million dollars - why would he want a buyout

    - so lets look at a Mouring - who wants a buyout

He has a bad contract - he wants to get bought out so he can get some value for the contract in place AND shop his services with other teams (like the Heat) - that way he gets the buy out AND the money from the new team (double dipping)

it is similar to people wanting to get laid off from a company so they get the package (like 6 months salary) then they find a job in 3 weeks and still have money in the bank.

With Mo, he has to be convinced he can do as well or better with buy out money plus the money he can get from another team

.. and right now, no one will pay him anying for his services

Is MoT worth the MLE for 3 years?

He could take a buy out with the Rockets for the remainder of his 2 years under contract (~$17m)...for let's say $7M. Then get MLE money ($5M per year) over 3 years...and, he gets to go to a team where he can start and contribute.

    Very unlikely, I know...

but, yes, that is how it would work

that is why I suggested that his agent needs to get involved in this

Well, that's overstating it. If we cut Taylor, he'd have a dozen suitors calling him the moment he cleared waivers. He's not a bad player, just not worth his contract. Once he clears waivers, that isn't an issue anymore. He'd just want the opportunity to actually play badly enough to accept a buyout.

He would rather rot on the bench than take less money, and as far as that goes, I don't blame him.

His attitude his whole career has been one of satisfaction and not one of striving to improve.

Mo is a servicable PF, but that is all he will ever be.

I wasn't overstating it - I said no will pay him - if we cut him and he clears waivers, the ROckets will be paying him and he can go play somewhere else (see Matt Malony)

Agree, he's servicable, especially his offensive skills. Matching his money or not, is another issue. He probably is not what we need right now, we need a defensive oriented PF to complement Yao and protect him. But some other teams might need his 12 points. But I guess noone is willing to pay 8M for a sixth man and servicable PF.

I see. But, a new team would still have to pay him at least the minimum.

that's true - I was thinking about more than the minimum

... hell the Rockets would gladly pay him the min. for his services
