-I for one haven't exactly been a fan of some decisions he makes out there, but I'll put that aside for now, he HAS been really impressive in the clutch.

-he's been hitting big shots after shots for us...

it's good to see him doing what he said earlier in the season... he would be gladto step up on crunch time...

    -Quote:
not a fan of some of the stuff he does

Yah, like carry us on his back to victory ever other game....

You can't hate the way he plays with reckless abandon and too much emotion on the one hand, and then on the other like the fact that the guy is winning game after game for us.

-The guy is fearless in the clutch and he loves the game being on his shoulders. I have been very impressed by that. Whether is hitting a jumper, driving to the hole, drawing the foul, or getting the big rebound he has been huge. We would probably be at .500 or less if it wasent for his heroics since we play a lot of close games.

-He is what he is. From a season tix holder's perspective, it sure is nice to have a leader that plays with huge heart and has the balls and skill to make clutch shots. I'll take it any day...

No one questions Steve's heart or his, uh, balls. But he has these in lieu of brains.

someone called in to sports radio the other day and said it perfectly:

"he makes the impossible look possible...and the possible look impossible."

Francis is responsible for more wins than losses in both Houston and Orlando. He just got an unequal share of the blame for the losses and not enough credit for the wins.

Someone called Charlie's show Monday and said it perfectly, if Francis had taken that ill-advised three that McGrady took against Sacramento and then not fouled Webber, and then followed with going 10-26 against Miami it would have been the hottest topic on sports radio in Houston.

I find this funny because I've been telling everybody I talk to this about the Sacramento game: It felt like Francis was in control, like last year's team. Found a way to lose a big game. If the Spurs game was the McMiracle, the Sacramento game in the clutch was the McMuff.

The problem ofcourse is McGrady is much, much better than Francis ... he doesn't have a consistent track record of these terribly boneheaded decisions. You can deny it all you want, but Francis has it... it's not something in the water that makes people dislike some of the things Francis does on the floor. It's real, and you're seeing many fans in Orlando say the same thing. Hell, Weisbrod doesn't want him as a point much longer.

Well, Francis is the No.1 on "Crunch Time Peformance". I guess his "boneheaded decisions" did not hurt Orlando that much.

    http://www.nba.com/features/nestle/crunch_time_stat.html

BTW, T-mac's team has never post a better record than Francis's team when both played full season and T-Mac has never past first round either. It looks like Francis's team will have a better record than T-Mac's this year also. T-Mac is a better player but not by much.

Looks like we can not provide the link here. Cruch time stats measure the player's performance (pt, assts, rebs, TOs etc) in last two minutes and OT except blowouts. Here is the list of top 5 crunch time player:

    1. Steve Francis,
    2. Dwyane Wade
    3. Kevin Garnett
    4. Damon Jones
    5. Shaq
    5. T-Mac

francis has been absolutely huge in the clutch the last 4 games. after starting 0-11, he hits a shot (and avoids the zach randolph special) with the game tied and about 40 seconds left that leads to a win against washington. then the next night, with the game tied, he hits a spinning fall away 16 footer with the game tied and about 30 seconds left to lead to a win over washington. then after orlando went on a 13-0 run to take the lead against atlanta and harrington hit a shot to take back the lead, francis hit a tough layup between diaw and childress to take the lead with 11 seconds left (then of all people antoine walker hits some herky jerky bs jumper that just barely got over howard). then last night he scored the last 10 points of the game against cleveland, including a jumper right over lebron to give orlando the lead with about 2 minutes left.

Keyword here is team. T-mac's team has never posted a better record than francis team. That means T-mac's team isn't as good as francis's was. T-mac is not that close to Francis when you consider his passing and ball handling. I have rarely been angry at the decisions t-mac makes because he does so many things that it cancells out the bad decision he might make. Francis is really good for his size and is just as athletic as you can get for a 6'3" gaurd. He can really be amazing in crunch time but his boneheaded plays might be a reason it was a close game in the first place. T-mac can do whatever Francis can do times 2 minus a few turnovers. I'm not bashing Francis, but to say he's close to T-mac is not seeing how talented T-mac really is and how far Francis has to go to get to that level.

Interesting what people are saying about him. Very similiar to what Houston fans were saying last year.

P.S. None of your article links work because the urls are blocked.

Steve Francis is what he is. He's got boatloads of athleticsm, guts, and heart. He's pretty darn good at creating a shot for himself, and he can really fill up a box score. But as he giveth, he also taketh away. He can make some pretty boneheaded decisions sometimes. He can't catch and shoot, so he can't play off the ball. His teams tend to play down (and "up" fortunately enough) to the level of the competition. And he has also been known to force the issue and dribble into crowds or take tough shots.

Does he do more good than bad? Absolutely. Is he a guy that can lead a team to a title? I don't think so.

And Tmac's team is in a tougher conference.

I believe Steve's stats will always be 21/6/7, which is great for a 6'3" guard. That being said, I think sometimes he hangs in the lane way too much to get a board. He is a stat filler. I never would have said that if he were still on t he Rockets.
