Small world alert: The coach of Randolph-Macon, Mike Rhoades, was at the same resort that my wife and I honeymooned at. We got to be friends for five days. He's a great guy. When I saw RMC on ESPN I was floored. Then I saw what happened I cringed.

That's my alma mater. My oldest daughter is in school there now. I'm about 20 minutes from Guilford. Maybe one year I'll go see them play...

Huh? If you would of 'fouled the crap out of him' you put him on the line with a chance to tie. The guy who made the game-winning shot said that his plan was to 'lean into' one of the defenders hoping to draw a 'cheap foul'. The opposing coach instructed the foul shooter to miss the second free throw because it is freakin' improbable that somebody is going to have time to get the rebound, turn, and shoot. Much less make it. It wasn't a matter of the other players not hussling. They were trying to stay far enough away so as to not pick up one of those 'cheap fouls' -- which we would have lambasted them for doing if it had gone down that way. Bottom line -- they played it correctly. The guy just hit an amazing and improbable shot.
This is nothing, did anyone saw that dunk they were showing on ESPN last night? A guy completely FLY OVER another guy for a TWO handed jam. If you think that dunk VC made in the Olympic, this one is going to blow your mind.
Right call. Both teams were in the 2 shot bonus. If the team that was down drew the foul, they are would be on the line with a two point bonus shot. Right call. It was a freak basket. Terrible way to lose a game.

That dunk wasn't that impressive. VC dunked over a 7'2 center. This guy had to spread his legs to get over a 6 foot point guard.
wow, watching it, it was even more impressive than i thought it would be. i mean completely under the other goal and just wheels and throws and it happens to perfectly swish. you know they probably made him try it again in practice and he didn't even come close. but this still doesn't compare to that one play where it was the Texas State Championship Game (i wanna say 5A also) and this one team was up 2, and had 2 free throws with like 2 seconds left. the guy ends up missing both and some guy gets the rebound and shoot a shot he actually double pumped on from just behind halfcourt and swishes it perfectly. up 2 and a guy hits a 3. up 2 with 2 free throws and the guy hits a 3. up 2 wth 2 free throws and the other team has to go the length of the court in 2 seconds and the guy hits a 3. and he does it in the freakin' state finals. you're whole season, you've got the championship and that play happens.
