This year so far, Yao's production

    0 Days Rest 11games 8.9rebs 19.3pts
    1 Days Rest 23games 8.5rebs 18.5pts
    2 Days Rest 7games 8.1rebs 17.0pts
    3+ Days Rest 4games 8.3rebs 16.3pts

So the less Yao rest, the better he has performed. We all know he has stamina problem, but these stats show the opposite. It's consistenet too. Any theory on this?

Well I don't have any theories, but IIRC Yao's career stats also bear out this trend. Maybe not quite to the letter where his play on 0 day's rest is the best, but I certainly remember that his numbers after a couple off days is not as sharp.

So, if Yao lay off the CNT commitment during the summer, we might see a less effective Yao. He'd better keep going, play basketball all year long, no rest according to this trend.

Could it be a proof of his mental toughness. In the 2nd game back to back he is more assertive, wheras he is more doubtful about himself if he hasnt been in the game for more than 2 days.

0 and 1 days rest = no time for icq and computer games?

    0 21 7.7 13.2
    1 41 8.5 14.6
    2 13 8.2 10.6
    3+ 7 8.6 12.9

    03-04

    1 45 8.9 18.4
    2 12 7.9 14.9

Ok, it's confirmed that Yao needs to play everyday in order to keep sharp. CNT commitment actually helped him in shape. :D

Meaningless statistic, it all depends on what team he is playing.

I'd rather have him working out here in the U.S. then go to China and practice

Yeah, but how can it be so cosistent, his career stats show that he plays better when he only has 1 day or no rest. I doubt we always play weaker teams on the 2nd of back to back.

Look at Tmac's stats this year, Yao and Tmac play the same games.

    0day 11G 6.0rebs 5.8ast 23.2pts
    1day 21G 7.0rebs 5.9ast 29.0pts
    2day 6G 5.5rebs 5.5ast 19.5pts
    3+ 5G 4.8rebs 4.6ast 22.2pts

    :Excuse me YallMean:

Maybe it is time you change you signature because there is no way we land Bogut unless if Atlanta, Charlotte, New Orleans or Golden State decide to trade down with us.

Bogut is simply going top 5 this summer. :(

am i the only one who feels yao doesn't have a stamina problem anymore? his only problem is staying out of foul trouble. yes he looks winded at times but it seems like he has learned to play thru it.

    I got it, ok.
I dont think these stats are totally irrelevant. If I have to bet how much Yao will score and rebounds, I definitely will use it as reference.

Not that I think these numbers make much sense at all. Just curious, was Yao's recent flu included in above stats.

2 or more days rest = more time with his gf?

Or maybe less than 2 days rest = JVG has no time to micromanage.

    1) Four games and maybe even 7 games is too small a sample to mean anything
    2) The teams they played matter
    3) Statistically for 0, 1, and 2 games you're talking about a 2 point difference. That's not much.
    4) For the 0 days rest, did he play a full game the previous day? Or was he in foul trouble or sucky and rode the bench most of the game?

Too many variables you aren't taking into it.

Bill Worrell said it best when during a broadcast he basically said he doesn't get Yao's stamina/conditioning. He sometimes comes out and plays hard and seems like he can go for 40 minutes, yet other days he comes out and can barely make it up and down the court for half a quarter.

But according to the previous two years, Yao has also shown better numbers on 0 or 1 days rest than on 2+. Maybe the statistical difference isn't huge, but it does add up and make a difference. I think the reasoning has to do with Yao being sharper when he plays on a more consistent basis. Although I don't buy the CNT commitments being a good thing for his overall health and performance.

Must have something with his gf. In some degree, intercourse can interfer a sportmans performs in a positive way. Yao ming may be the only all-star without a girl. Blame his parent and GF,
His parent 's presentence may prevent the guy from some "bad place".
And come on, yie li,retire from the silly basketball team. first, your team are crap. sendcond, nobody care female sports.
