National Signing Dat Thread http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/3370584 Perrilloux changes his mind, heads to LSU Scout.com / Special to FOXSports.com Posted: 32 minutes ago One of the more intriguing recruiting battles has been that for Ryan Perrilloux. The Reserve (La.) East Saint John star quarterback had committed to Texas back in early July. Despite his decision to the Longhorns, Perrilloux still visited LSU and Mississippi State. For the last month he stated he was still committed to Mack Brown and the Longhorns. Then on Wednesday's national signing day, Perrilloux made his final decision: "They are all great schools and LSU is the one I am going to," he said. "It is close to home, it's a great QB situation, great school and my family can come watch me play every Saturday." Perrilloux is the Scout.com National Player of the Year and a Scout.com 2nd team All-American. He is ranked just behind quarterback Mark Sanchez (Mission Viejo, Calif.) as the nation's No. 2 QB and No. 2 overall player. Perrilloux passed for 3,546 yards (225-for-342) and 30 touchdown passes and ran for 1,460 yards and 37 touchdowns. He accounted for 69 total touchdowns and finished his career second in total yards for the state of Louisiana behind Brock Berlin with 12,705 yards. Perrilloux also returned kicks and played a little defense in leading his team to the third round of the playoffs, the best finish in school history.
look like Longhorn will miss out on all Perriloux, Rouse, and Bennett....talking about being outrecruited....
Congrats, LSU: "LSU is the perfect school for me," Perrilloux said. "It's close to home and with their quarterback situation, I can come in and play next year. JaMarcus Russell struggled last year and Matt Flynn is definitely not a better quarterback than me. It's just a perfect opportunity."
If I were a high school QB, no way would I have signed with the Horns. Surprised it was even a consideration. Vince is a mortal lock on that position for the next two years, and I don't see him going pro early with his throwing mechanics.
Now THAT'S what you wanna say before joining the team. Great way to introduce yourself. This childs ego is out of control.
LOL, I'm sure Messrs. Russell and Flynn like hearing him talk sh-t about them - on the off chance that they have friends on the defensive side of the ball I trust the first day of practice might be an eye opener for Mr. Perriloux
That is David Nelson, and as far as I know it's false. He's denied saying anything to that effect, but he never denied making the comments that if Weis wouldn't visit him personally then wound't be committing (paraphrasing).
I thought keeley was joking ... no? Maybe his early false commitment sent another player or two our way. But could have also knocked out a QB or two.
Texas HAS to bring in a top 3 QB next year. We hadn't even signed a QB since Vince until this year, and I really don't see Colt McCoy as the answer once Vince is gone.
Can't blame Perrilloux for picking LSU over Texas. He has a legit shot at some playing time this year even though his ego is so out of control it is unbelievable. The way he handled the recruiting process now builds upon what Xavier Lee did last year. A Verbal Commitment now means nothing IMO. Perrilloux said that he committed to Texas early so that people would get off of his back, but just the opposite seemed to occur. As today (Nat. Sign. Day) approached people were more interested in where he was going. I blame the media for allowing him to play them into "shocking the world" today.
What an ass!! You Longhorn fans out there should be happy you didn't get a pompous kid like this. Talented or not, I wouldn't want this kid suiting up for the Ags.
Texas' class is currently ranked 19th in the nation by Rivals, by far the worst since Mack's been here. However, we're ranked low due to the number of signings, we still got alot of quality players. I heard on the radio last week that Texas didn't have as many scholarships to offer this year.
After listening to different "experts" talk about Perrilloux and is inflated ago, I think Texas should be happy he isnt coming to Austin. It seems like the kid needs a dose of reality and a big slice of good ole humble pie. By the way, as a Husker fan, I was glad to see we had a very strong class this year.
I heard the Huskers were having a good recruiting season, thats great. My wife is from Nebraska, which means I have to at least pretend to like the team. Keeley, did Perriloux really say that? If so, good lord....I think Texas should be glad they didn't get him. Sounds like a team cancer just waiting to happen.
I think most of us are, although that's something of a silver lining. Perrilloux is by all accounts a terrific prospect. To me, the worst thing he did wasn't signing with LSU. It was making the ridiculous claim around mid-season that he would "reconsider" his commitment if Greg Davis were no longer on the staff. That allowed the eternal optimists to defend Davis' continued employment (SEE ELITE QBs WANT TO PLAY FOR HIM), which made me chuckle since the last time I listened to an 18-yr old's opinion with any interest was when I was 18. How one 18-yr-old egomaniac's opinion of Davis is supposed to excuse our offensive performance against OU the past six years-- oops, sorry, it's still only five for a few more months-- I never understood. Maybe, but I thought Bennett was just trying to have fun. He doesn't strike me as all that bright, so that was just his way of being clever and enjoying the spotlight. It didn't strike me as malicious. The kid who used his press conference a few years back to put on a Penn State cap, then take it off and throw it over his shoulder to announce he was signing with Virginia Tech? Now that was malicious. And Perrilloux, that's also a different story. This entire thing appears premeditated. Based on the reports over the past few weeks, he knew he was going to LSU for quite some time, and continued to waste the UT staff's time. Oh well. It would bother me more if I thought this was likely to have a material impact on the program.
