In hindsight - was Jackson/Bokey for Wesley a good trade.

like others have said, he's obviously in a slump since he was traded (wesley) he'll get over it.

I never bought into the argument that JJ was a team leader. Sure, he was among the most experienced players we had at one point, but that alone doesn't make someone a leader. I think too many people just stuck that tag on him because of his age.

Look at it this way: How many instances can you name in which a team traded its leader and improved substantially because of it?

Sorry, I know JJ played hard most of the time and certainly didn't mope around when things went wrong (like Steve and Cat often did), but if he was our team leader, he sure wasn't doing a very good job of it.

I believe I remember an article about the Spurs Brent Barry. He was recently in a slump and the Spurs were considering trading him because he wasn't knocking down open shots. Some commentators commented on the fact that it takes time to become comfortable with your new team. Give Welsey some time, he will come around. By the way, have you watched the Spurs lately, Brent Barry is an integral piece now.

On the flip side, we will be able to move a lot of expiring contracts next year if the opportunity arises for a trade.

exactly. since it was only for one more year, the fact that's it's more than jj's could actually be a good thing for this reason.

as for his shooting, i just don't see how you can be this damn friggin' bad after a career that didn't even hint at being this bad. it's not like he got old the night of the trade. of course we all thought piatkowski's shot would return and it never did.

I'd give him one more night like that, and then he's got to go to the bench for the sake of the team. There is only so long we can carry his dead weight. It's a little demoralizing to get wide open looks and the shot doesn't even have a chance to go in. It got so bad he'd pass up wide oven looks to drive the lane and get stuffed. Sura is outshooting him. And I cringe when he shoots a wide open three.

This was an great trade! It opened a roster spot, and we were able to get "Cold" Rod Strickland to fill it. It also eliminated a SF from our roster, and took most of the Boki discussions off this bbs as well.

Personally, I think eliminating most of the Boki threads was what CD had in mind. Imagine people actually thinking he could play, and wanting him on the court. Heck, next people will be yelling for Sam Mack (provided that he and Maxwell are not cell mates)....

Next step, eliminate all of the Yao posts (including those SuraYao posts). CD, it's time to work :D

I love the wins, intensity, composure, quickness, and toughness Wesley has brought to the team.

When his jump shot shows up my happiness with the trade will be complete.
