The report I saw (hoopshype) said he has a guaranteed 1 year contract and a team option. Do you have a report that states the contrary?

    Some facts about Malick:

    - has 10 brothers and 8 sisters
    - his oldest brother lives with him in germany
    - got his size from his mother, she is 1.92 m tall (his father is only 1.85 m)
    - has scored his first basket in an official game in africa in 1998
    - played two pickup games against Pat Ewing last summer and has won one of them
    - sees himself as a pf though he often plays center
    - his role model is Kevin Garnett
    - has a wingspan of 2.22 m
    - works hard on his free throws and his hook shot
    - his former teammate Mario Kasun is now playing with Steve Francis on the Orlando Magic

    His stats for 2004/2005:

6 games, 16 mpg, 4.2 ppg and 4.5 rpg in the German Bundesliga.
3 games, 22 mpg, 5 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.6 bpg in the Euroleague.

And then he got the shoulder injury (november 2004). But I think I read that he will return to action soon.

judging by those stats...if he were playing here as our starter (30MPG) he would average about 6-7-2. we could really use that.

    Unlikely

The word on Ward is that he has a 3 year deal with a team option for the 3rd year, so we are on the hook for him for at least next year if that is true. (the part about the team option is as yet unconfirmed) Even if not, he represents a paltry cap number so itt's not a huge deal either way.

Witherspoon has trade value, towards mid next season as an expiring contract.

Taylor, howver, does not, since he is signed through 07; in other words he will have no more value this time next year.

And this of course assumes that these guys you want to bring in are worth bringing in in the first place, which is another matter.

Does anybody know where Spanoulis is and how he's doing? I looked on the Euroleague site but didn't see his name. Did see Zan Tabak, though. Want to sign him up? Is Rodrick Rhodes still around? Maybe Ed Ratliff or Zaid Abdul Aziz...

I'm glad that Badiane is getting healthy again. Even if he wasn't injured he still wouldn't be NBA ready but he seems like a hard worker.

Spanoulis plays for Maroussi Honda in Greece. His team plays both local league games as well as Euroleague games.

Well we will have to wait to see the real deal on Ward's deal. I strongly believe he is only guaranteed a year. It is big deal in terms of roster space rather than the money part. We need the roster space for more valuable players and moves. His contract is not paltry - we could give it to some one else at least but again it is more about roster space for me.

I was just about to post that. He'd clear the lockerroom.

Sadly, those are very accurate figures.

It's rare for a second round pick to receive a guaranteed contract. I don't think he'll ever see one. Projects don't stay on the project list forever. One must assume that it will take him time to get back to those "numbers". One must also assume that NBA PFs are better than his current competition. I don't think either project will pan out.
