    Its legal in Mexico.
They have tons of cockfights during certain festival months (sometime around our Rodeo season).
Its all done in a tiny bullring and people are betting like nooones business.
After the fights, the owners and roosters stay underneath the stands with the rest of their birds. They are really fighters and then they heal and then they fight again. Some get killed too.
Wow, its like have several knive fights in your life until one finally gets you for good.

The idea of gloves sounds REALLY cute, but the premise is still the same as boxing, right?! To lame the other dude or rooster up!

I do not condone this behavior with or without Rooster boxing gloves one bit.
Very sad for those nice birds.:(

When I saw this on TV....I couldnt believe it.

I mean, I dont fear the person that takes part in this type of activity....I fear the person that has no contract at all with this horrible "Sport" but who thinks its a good idea to go out of their way to get it back.

The people that are anti-cockfighting believe that they know what goes on inside an animal's mind. Obviously they do not. But they think they do. Anyhow, in a human setting, a large component of the pain of getting sliced by a razor is attributable to mental anguish. The actual cut itself is a small portion of the pain. The mental processes magnify the pain. However, in an animal, these mental processes are extremely diminished, consistent with the diminished mental capacity of animals relative to humans.

So, with this as a given, the error in judgment that the animal lovers make is they believe that a **** or dog experiences similar feelings, emotions, and mental processes as a human would experience if the human were participating in the event. It is truly an absurd foundation on which to base an argument.

I have the spurs my grandfather used when he fought cocks in South Carolina.

Those thing could do some serious damage.

I also attended a pit bull fight when I was younger with a friend down off S. Post Oak. Not fun to watch and nothing that I would ever condone or approve of.

You realize you're saying that getting sliced by a razor doesn't really hurt a rooster or dog much, right? Just checking.

Ever accidentally stepped on a dog's foot? Things scream like you're trying to rip their paw off.

Anyhow, I think we need to all picture what this guy in the story wants....a ring, with two roosters with tiny boxing gloves on. Just let that sink in a minute.
