I'm sick of the Yao threads, so I'm starting a Ball Washing thread on the rest of the Rox since we're finally 5 games over this season. Chime in with your thoughts!

Mac - looking good, possible scoring champ had JVG let the clamps off earlier

Sura - still does stupid things, but because he should be a SG option off the bench, not a starting PG. I wish his decision making was better sometimes, but he's looked pretty good all things considered.

Wesley - I still miss JJ, but Wesley's shown to be a good fit, he hasn't played to his past ballhog ways yet, and his defense has been welcome.

Barry - I love this guy in a strictly heterosexual way. Thought we shoulda signed him from the beginning instead of going after Charlie F'n Ward

Deke - Even more than the obivous awesome job hes done on the backup spot, he's been a FAR more valuable teacher to Yao than Ewing. He's taught Yao to improve his blocking, and hpoefully being more aggressive DEFENFIVELY.

Barrett - sparkplug off the bench, I wish he was slightly bigger, cuz he just looks overmatched sometimes on defense.

Bowen - He looks like he should be pitching Geico insurance. I think I bought a policy from him once.

    Padgett - Sam Cassell Reincarnated.

Rod Strickland - Why does he have a job. What can he do that Barrett cant do? Why why why why

Howard/Taylor - like the zit that is oozing puss from the prom queen's face

I think we have a good chance of beating the Kings

    Quick thoughts:
Yao has played pretty well and I'm hoping he can bring the same energy he had when we played the Kings last time where he and Tmac went off for 30. I'm VERY glad that he is out of the slump

Sura - I think he's decent, brings alot of hustle and energy. His shooting isn't very good but I like his demeanor

Wesley - Still waiting for the dude to take off!

Barry - I think this was a great steal! Lue for Barry! Who in there right mind??

Deke - Deke has been pretty suprising considering his age and all I think he's a great backup for Yao and STILL a terrific shotblocker and rebounder

Howard - he's making more of his shots..which is needed but man sometimes I just can't stand the lack of rebounding from our PFs

    Padgett - CLUTCH

    everyone else....meh

IIRC - don't think we were ever looking at Jon Barry, it was Brent we were considering before he signed with SA

    Sounds good. :)

Agreed. Tmac is a great enough player to make JVG change his offensive style. I forget who posted it in another thread but scoring 30+ is just another day for the Macster...simply amazing.
I love Sura's toughness, the dude is just what this team needed as our record shows before and after his surgery. Great price as well. His shooting could definitely be better.
Wesley isn't the shooter I thought he'd be, although he isn't bad. The great thing about him is his ability to protect the ball...he averages less than 1 TO a game I believe...pretty decent defender too. When he's on, we're a very dangerous team.
Barry has been pretty good, better than I thought he'd be...but seriously, wouldn't you want Charlie Ward on the floor rather than Rod Stricknine? I definitely would.
Deke=the man. The dude has blown away my expectations of him this year. Defensive intimidator, offensively adequate...hell some games (rare) his offense is better than Yao's! Definitely a tougher rebounder.

Came out with guns blazen, but has cooled off and shown us why NY cut him. Sometimes he looks plain out of control. Not that great a shooter and a BIG defensive liability. He better not be on our roster next year.

Bowen is not good. He hustles, and that's about it...pretty much what I expected but a little disappointing.

Clutch. Can be a tough rebounder from time to time. I'd say he needs more minutes, but when he had more earlier he didn't do a whole lot.

Like I said, I'd like Ward in there instead of Strick.

LOL. That's pretty harsh. Howards had some good games but a little disappointing overall. Mo is, well, Mo. :(

I thought this was going to be a thread about Aggie jokes. You know, ...Did you hear about the Aggie that broke his leg on the golf course? He fell off the ball washer. Pa rump pum.

On topic, I agree with most of what has been said, except bad decisions by Sura are miniscule, compared to what I've gotten used to the past 4 years or so. Sura brings an attitude that the team needs as much as rebounds, 3 pointers and other measurable attributes.

I think as Strickland plays himself into shape, he will contribute a lot. When Barrett is out there, I see rookie, rookie rookie. He has energy, but once Strickland is in playing shape, he will bring much more. He will start making that little runner down the right side of the lane and hit an occasional jumper. He will run the break well, also.

Deke has been awesome. He hits his free throws and has contributed offense, while being an intimidater on defense. I have to say everytime he takes a shot and makes it, I'm amazed.

Wesley hasn't shot for a good percentage, yet, but he has hit some shots when the team really needed them. His defense has been outstanding. Quick guards with a great crossover can make anyone look bad, but Wesley recovers quickly and can usually challenge the shot.

Barry's attitude is right there with Sura's, and he really knows the game and can shoot!! I like Padgett, also. If the Rockets could move MoTay, I would be just as happy with JHo and Padgett as JHo and Motay, (not that I would'nt be more happy with someone like say a healthy Antonio McDyess.)

Say what you want but his decision making is a lot better than what we had last season (Francis). At least he doesn't dribble out the shot clock game after game and seems to get it to the right player at the right time.

Nice post but lets not make it a common thing just yet to dump on Rod Strickland. I'm liking what I'm seeing from him- everything besides shooting the ball that is. When Rod Strickland has the ball you can count on one thing NOT happening - a TURNOVER. That man knows what he is doing with the ball. And his assists don't catch the eye, not yet, but they are effective and he is the best at hitting Mcgrady with a pass off a pick for a score. And you gotta love the fellas fire last game when he was getting into with Jr Smith. So far I'm pleased with his play and think he'll be a better pickup than M Jackson was for us last year.
