    McCarty to the Suns

The talk around town is that Boston and Phoenix are very close to completing a trade that would send veteran forward, Walter McCarty to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for a future second round draft choice.

Supposedly, the trade was nearly completed last night. As of now, Boston is waiting for confirmation from Phoenix.

McCarty spoke about the potential deal saying, "I'm very excited if it does happen. The Suns are a team that's playing really well right now, and it would be a chance to win. I'm very excited. I think it's close and I just hope it follows through. I don't want to get too anxious and be disappointed if it doesn't happen."

McCarty is a good player who had a good season last year. He would be a nice pickup for any team, especially if you're only giving up a 2nd round pick.

No Kidding! I think he would be a great pickup for the Rockets as he could be a legit backup to TMac and can play PF as well. A good defender, hustles, and can actually hit shots, I say get him CD.

I know you said this is very close to happening, but I am getting tired of these misleading titles, like "Muhammad to the Texans" and "George Karl to the Nugs." Why not say something like "Probable trade: McCarty to the Suns" or "Looks like the Suns will get McCarty" or "McCarty to the Suns?" ???

Whew !! (relief after finally get that off my chest)

Carry on at your leasure, gentlemen. :)

McCarty sucks. A Padget-type player. I wouldn't lose sleep over "missing out" on him. I'd rather have the 2nd rounder.

Phoenix is finally getting a bench, now they might soon look scarily deep. Here are all their players who don't suck horrible (a la our own Mo Taylor)

    PG: Steve Nash
    SG: Joe Johnson
    SF: Quentin Richardson
    PF: Shawn Marion
    C: Amare Stoudemire

Bench: Leandro Barbosa, Jim Jackson, Steven Hunter, Walter Mccarty

That's a legit 9 deep right there. If Nash is healthy, they'll continue to dominate the regular season. I still call the Rockets or Twolves winning against them in a playoffs series, just a hunch.

Since when did McCarty became a good player? The guy is a mediocre bench player who can't even get many minutes in the Celtics rotation. He can't shoot well, as a career 39.5% shooter. He can't rebound, posting lower rebounding numbers the past year than both our horrible Mo Taylor and Juwan Howard.

In another words, he sucks and really only deserves to be traded for one of the last picks of the draft.

I have to agree with many of your points, though unlike Mo T or Juwan, when watching Celtics games, I noticed that Mccarty had the uncanny ability to hit threes many times. That alone will help a lot. Though he can't block a shot, I'm predicting that he'll fit in fine with Phoenix. If even Steven Hunter, with no shooting skills at all, can occasionally get 10-15 pts from Nash's passing, Mccarty can definitely net 10-20pts many times.

Well, since McCarty is mainly a SF, he shouldn't be out rebounding our PFs.

And a 2nd rounder from us would be one of the last picks of the draft. Our last 3 2nd-rounders were Tito Maddox, Badaine, and Spanoullis. Tito was terrible and we have yet to even see Badaine and Spanoullis so it would be hard to say that McCarty isn't worth it.

As posted above, I remember McCarty hitting a lot of 3's last season. Hey, McCarty would be a much better backup for TMac than Bowen. If a 2nd rounder is all they want, the Rockets should jump on it.

Somewhere, Tommy Heinsohn is devestated. McCarty has to be the all-time leader in Tommy Points.

I bet Tommy is gonna miss saying "I Love Walter" where Walter is more pronounced like Waltah.
