Like us the Jazz were highly touted this offseason / preseason / beginning of the season. The best front court in the NBA, the killer tandem and depth. However, the Jazz seem to be spiraling out of the playoffs at an alarming rate. I know AK47 is injured but they added alot of depth w/ Boozer and Okur in the off season. what seems to be the problem in Utah? not that im complaining but I cant see why they are still losing so many games. We can say the same things about Denver.. which brought in KMart to solidfy a formidable front court of Melo/Camby/Nene and now KMart. players have missed a few games here and there but largely have stayed intact. any ideas? for the Nugs.. if your best player is a slacker maybe it permeates to the rest of the team? or they lack a leader/captain? kind of like we did until Sura/Tmac started stepping up to fill that role. thye nuggets lost voshon leonard at the begininng of the season, they're only very good shooter. as for the jazz they added a second round pick power forward in boozer and and that guy okur who had proved nothing in the nba. i say both were overrated and are lacking shooting more than anything.
I think this just goes to show why superstars are valued so much in the NBA. One player can make or break the team. The Cavs lost Boozer but with James there, the team can still carry on fine. The Nugs are imploding since Melo is proving he isn't going to be a superstar any time soon. AK is just one player on a very deep Utah team, but without him, so many of other players defeciencies comes to the front. Remember, all NBA players are very good players just to get to where there are. The difference usually comes down to a special play here and a special play there by a superstar player in a game can totally shift the mental advantage for a team to either victory or defeat.
i saw nuggets game against mavs, no chemistry, caramel tries to be fancy and forces alot of things no energy and complains, they were bothered by injuries of camby and nene, but elson played some good min. but fouled dirk in the crucial moments of the 4th which cost the nuggets the game, now on the good side, they have a 5-5 or 5-6 w/e guard in boykins who may struggle all game, but is CLUTCH, even though he missed the shot at the buzzer to send game in OT, he made a big 3, and a floater before that, (they wud not have been in that situation if rodney white did not airbal that shot from the top of the key wide open...) andre miller shows some really good signs, he penetrated at will against the mavs, grabbed boards and dished the ball, if it wasnt for him they wouldnt have even been close, elson although he fouled dirk which cost them the game, played some really really good min. i was suprised, hes a hustler alright, and his J aint that bad either. the nuggets just need a go-to guy, after seeing that game i realized how much tmac really means to our team he shud not be taken for granted at all. Overall, the main things bothering the nuggets is carmello, chemistry and the lack of a go-to guy.

The Jazz got off to that hot start and were playing so well. But things went downhill after their BEST player went down. They just don't have enough outside of AK-47 to win. As for the Nugs, losing Voshon was a huge blow for them. Denver just doesn't have enough shooters. They got out of their run & gun style and a slow down game only works if your team can hit shots.
As far as the Jazz, -AK47 going down crippled their defense. -Sloan does not seem to be himself, and no one can blame him (loss of his wife) -Sloan's trashing of Arroyo could not have helped a locker room already down in the dumps over the losing. -Okur was a vastly overrated signing. -Boozer has not been as consistent as he should be - he's utterly disappeared in several games, and when he doesn't give them rebounding and D to go with his points, they struggle. -I was personally expecting Humphries and Snyder to come in and be a big part of their bench, and they've been less than spectacular so far. -In a nutshell, they're missing a true go-to guy on offense that they can count on for 20 a night. That should be Boozer, but he's not cracked the 20 pt mark 23 times and has only managed 11 or less 7 times (42 games total). As far as the Nuggets, -Losing Lenard really exposed the lack of shooters and made this team very vulnerable to zones. It makes it much easier on teams to swarm Carmelo Anthony. -Kenyon Martin hasn't played any better or worse than he did with the Nets, which is fine, but expectations were maybe set too high when he signed for the max. He's not a true franchise player - he's an extremely good role player. -Kiki should have sidestepped the unfortunate charade and just fired Bzdelik before the season. Instead, he refused to give him real support and essentially left him as a lame duck. Not surprisingly, the team tuned him out and sunk into bad habits. Now, he's compounding that error by leaving Cooper in limbo. Really dumb. Knowing that you can outlast a coach is the last thing you want a player to think/know. The NBA ego is horrible, and a coach needs to have crystal clear authority to have control over the roster. -Carmelo hasn't really been improving since last year, and IMO, tends to look outward to blame his troubles rather than striving to overcome them. LeBron took criticism over his shooting and defense last year, and worked hard on them in the offseason. Can you say the same about Anthony? -The Nuggets still haven't ironed out a consistent halfcourt game. If they run, they're okay. But they tend to struggle when the game is slowed down, and usually go to iso's to get their points. Tossing the ball to Carmelo and clearing out can't continue to be their go-to play. Evan
Plain and simple, the Jazz lost AK47 for a while. Maybe if you come to the fantasy league I'll trade him to you Pugs
