    the original post:

    Tips about Yao and Rockets
Please do now forward to other places. MITBBS only. Thanks.

    1. Ewing's coaching is not very effective and he is not a good teacher.
Mutombo helped a lot in Yao's defense, esp blocking. M taught Y about timing and positioning. That is the reason we see Yao's improvement on blocking recently.

    2. Yao does not get along with his current teammates well off court. There is no communication off court. He is not happy with it obviously.

    3. JVG recently set Wesley up as the 3rd choice for offense in his new system. Tracy and Yao are 1st and 2nd.

    4. Rocket's jet had the same trouble as Laker's when they flew back from denver weeks ago. The plane had touble landing on Hobby. The pilot tried landing twice and both failed. Eventually they flew to IAH for an emergency landing. (probably IAH has longer runway). The next embarassment was: IAH dids not have a bus big enough to transport these big men to Hobby.

    5. Taylor is on the injure list not because of injury. He argued with JVG in a training session.

You shouldn't post stuff from other bbs's but I can see how these things are true and make alot of sense.

    1. Mutumbo has always been a better defender than Ewing.

    2. Francis made a point to make everyone feel at home. Steve and Cat are very social. Tmac is a quiet and Sura doesn't seem like he wants to play video games with Yao.;)

    3. The SG is usually a top 3 option or you have the wrong shooting guard.

    4. Have no idea.

    5. No one goes on the IL because of the Flu

    It's legit.

I am glad to hear Mutumbo is teaching Yao.

What I would like to see most is he teaches Yao how to use elbow to protect the ball effectively. All too often Yao gets hacked left right & middle with no fouls called.

Really interesting stuff. Resonates too well to be made up. I bet it came straight from Yao.

there is no age gap between yao and tmac,

    it's not an age issue.

    more of culture and personality.

by the way, this second observation (yao's lucid relation with other rockets) are convincing, it has been reported several times in chinese media.

e.g. a very interesting quote by yao: " I always thought I was buddy of Moochie because he was glad to passed me the ball offense; but then in the first game against Knicks after Moochie was traded there, after the game, Moochie, sf and cat hugged together and had some talk but me not included. it's at that point I realized that they have a 'circle' which I do not belong. it's understandable since I have little common interest with them and we do not go out together outside of the basketball court".

    not between Yao and Tmac

between Yao & Tmac (mid 20s) vs. Howard, Sura, Wesley, Deke, Strickland, Barry (32-38 yr olds)

and I do think the lack of buddy system has a not apparent, but BIG negative impact on yao's developement both as a player and as a person: one at 22 years old still has lot of room for growth: I hope time will eventually make yao to find his nitch in this land and no longer feel he is a stranger.

but I do not really care the chemistry between yao/tmac and the role players. role players are brought in to do the work: but it's vital for yao and tmac to really mesh in order for us to have a champ run.

Well, the original post also said that Ewing is not a good coach. YM really did not learn anything from him.

Yao was not happy on the fact that there was no communication after the games.

This cannot be true because another ESPN article on page 1 of this BBS debunks this claim.

PS. Posting rumours from other BBS is not good.

Anyone with any bit of common sense knew that this would be the case.

Yao, and anyone else who did not understand that this would be the case, is very naive and clearly has no sense of the interracial/intercultural dynamic here in the states.

    Yes sir.

because if yao feel so (does not have a close relation with his teamates) he will certainly disclose to ESPN 'insider' thus the whole world will all know.

    I want to laugh.

This is totally going to be locked.

More rumors. I guess a large percentage of people really want him to leave houston. Saying everything is negative here for Yao.

hopefully there are enough people out there who can overcome the racial/cultural barrier.

the best thing I could see happen to ming will be for him to date an american girl. but unfortunately it does not seem likely to happen.

live with his daddy and mommy, eat at home, play hour of pc games each night, no night life, with a chinese girl friend,

there are all hindrance to yao's growth.

oh well. I guess lock is coMing.

I think it was McGrady who mentioned that Yao came over to play cards or something

better let truth be told and problem disclosed than pretending everything is 'perfect'.

on the other hand, i do not see why you get the conclusion that people spread these information because they want yao to leave.

at least that does not fit me.
