Not who's going to win the Superbowl, but who's going to cover the spread? Line opened at: Patriots by 7 48 Prediction: NE 27-23
I'm new at this gambling thing.....how exactly does the spread, the +/- work?? you know, I'd figured it'd be good to know before I bet
what were the odds at the begining of the season for the eagles, and the patriots to win the superbowl?
Patriots is -7 so if you bet on the Patriots they would have to win by more than 7 pts example: NE 20-10. You basically would minus 7 pts from NE final score to see if they still beat (or cover) against the the other team. Now if you play Phila you would add +7 pts to their final score example: NE 21 Phila 17 . If you add 7 pts to Phila that would make it 24 so in another word they would COVER vs NE.
Luckyazn, Let me take a wild guess and venture to say that your BBS moniker has something to do with your love for gambling.
Patriots were anywhere between 6/1 to 8/1 and the Eagles were anywhere between 8/1 to 10/1, depending on what casino you went to.
I like the OVER definetly. NE's offense is playing too well and is too balanced. The Eagles will have to score a lot to stay close. The Eagles do have a very good offense and the weather should be nice, I think they can get 20, losing like 35-20. I like the Pats to win and cover, but I wouyld be a lot more comfortable only having to give up 5 or 6. I put money on the over now, and wait and see if the spready drops below 7 to put on the Pats. The potential reutrn of Seymore and Owens (especially) could impact things. Honestly I think it is more of a bait though, as an Owens not in football shape might honestly do more harm than good to an Eagles offense very much playing like a team. On the other hand he looked better on his feet and walking yesterday. One other thing. Notice how the Eagles acted like they actually accomplished something (we proved the doubters wrong, blah, blah, blah) and WON the Superbowl. The Eagles still haven't beaten one of the top 4 in the league this year, regular season or playoffs. They have not accomplished anything they were not expected to do, nor anything much to be proud of yet. To the Pats yesterday was just nother game on the way to the real prize, all business. I expect the Pats to be much better prepared and the Eagles to be tight--I love to see the Eagles get bombed and wipe all those smiles away of their smug fans and players from yesterday. It might just happen (them not just losing, but getting bombed).
Some of the spreads I have liked over the years are Kerry Kendall, Laurie Woods, Stacey Leigh Arthur, Brooke Richards (the first one) and Peggy McIntaggart. Lately, spreads have been ok, but I read the articles.
