Dallas is 2nd to last in the NBA in assists.

The only ones that choose whether a thread is acceptable or unacceptable would be the moderators themselves. And we are all typical posters that share a common interest in the rocket's or we would not be here. Heck, I am almost certain that if the posters here could read and understand Chinese we would all be taking peeks at the various sights dedicated to the Rockets and Yao.

That said, your above statement gives the impression that knowing the language provides you with certain insights that those that do not know the language cannot decipher.

Granted, I am sure we are all aware that there are always statements and vocabulary that are harder to translate than others.

But with this insight you have, it can create a conflict because you even went sofar as to state:

    Not really a conflict.
I'm pretty sure Yao was not talking about Knicks. For the 2nd part, I said "it sounds like". If I was in the same situation and said the same thing in Chinese, that would mean I was really unhappy. But since I'm not Yao, I can't be 100% sure for that. Just from the Chinese language itself, it "sounds unhappy". Still, I hope it's not the real situation.

Reading players' quote is at least 10 times better than reading the craps made up by Chad Ford or Orlando Sentinal. What you read in quotes is up to individuals.

The thing is that it was written by some Chinese writer whose creditability is uncertain. What's more, with your own acceptance of this report, you were trying to tell people here that this is what Yao said and the only thing "you are not sure" is that if this is a sad tone, and if this meants someone in Knicks.

Although I appreciate your translation, you don't have a valid point for your arguments, because your base, the report itself, is lack of creditability.
If you could, please post some positive reports without this whining tone. I think people here would appreciate it.

So you're saying Yao is going to the dark side?:D

Francis (Telepathically to Yao): I see you've learned well my young padawan.

I'm sure this is exactly the kind of cross clutural knowledge the Chinese Basketball Association was thinking of when they let Yao play in the NBA. ;)

geez louise... this thread is still going? who cares about that article!? we won the game... end of story. if someone doesn't want to pass Yao the ball on a night when he's shootin 8-12 or something like that, they should be beaten over the head with a ballpeen hammer.

I believe my point was that you cannot know the tone - not the words. No written words can convey the same breath of information that spoken words can

unless maybe Yao told the reporters to put a :( at the end of his quote

When Yao passed the ball back to the perimeter, they often set up the play again. Making assists is just a small part of the whole passing game.

What is your creditability to declare this? These writers' only task is to follow Yao's every game, interview him face to face after every game. Their creditability is uncertain because they are Chinese reporters?

i wasn't talking about why Dampier has more assists. i was wondering why has so little assists. He is a great passer and he has great court vision, so you would think that he could have more then 1 assist per game

Wow Yao hits a big shot and something that should have been a big positive for everyone, has now been turned into some kind of negative...sad.

I think yao is very talented. And i think he wil become a super star

I think that what Yao did was actually very positive to his development. If Yao had the balls to demand the clutch shots in front of the team, JVG would **** in his pants and Tracy and the team would give him the ball.

I was very happy that Yao took that difficult fadeaway and nailed it. Even the Knicks announcers praised him for making that "tough tough" shot when the Rockets desperately needed a basket.

I also noticed two other huge positives for Yao in the game against the Knicks:

    1) He played aggressive D and blocked a shot from Mahamard, got the board, passed it to TMac, and ran down the court for a past break. TMac gave him the ball and Yao fouled on a slam dunk.

    2) Nailed a 22 foot jumper when the Knicks made that huge run near the end of 4th quarter. He did not even hesitate in releasing the shot. I found that if Yao shoots the ball with no hesitation, it usually is a basket nothing but the net. Otherwise, it's usually a miss.

    Guys,

Maybe he meant the play was "designed" for him to pass it back out by JVG, but he decided to shoot it.

IF that is the case, then we are seeing a HUGE evolution in the big fella and one that we are all waiting for.

    PLEASE...PLEASE...PLEASE be more selfish Yao.

    :)

I think this is all a result of Yao learning from a new coach......
