i don't agree with the thread, but I think you actually hurt your argument by putting up the stats next to each other.

in the 7 categories you posted, Sura is actually better than Steve on 5 of the 7 assuming equal min/gm. Steve is definitely a better player but Sura is such a bargain at $3 million. There's no way we're going to be able to have 3 max guys so to have a guy like Sura is a blessing.

adjusting stats is worthless,Iam pretty sure if sura was a good as francis he would get thoes extra minute.why not adjust everybody stats in the nba,and make a player like wethersoon the mvp.maybe he is better then tim duncan when you adjust the stats.

Technically, a squad with Sura and McGrady is 16-11 overall, 8-6 vs the West, because Sura did not play in the first 14 games for the Rockets (when they went 6-8), giving them a .593 winning percentage, which would translate to 6th in the West, 4th in the east, and better than Orlando. :p

Rocket River - you miss my point

No doubt Steve Francis is a better backetball player than Bobby Sura. There is no argument here. I was agreeing that Steve would be a great - tradable asset - we do not need another max player here, or if the Rockets were to spend the money - get a power forward like Brand to give Yao help.

I wholeheartedly agree the Rockets needed shooter in the worst way for Steve to have been an effective point guard here. Stve never had any shooting support and got balmed for everything.

I think Steve Francis played his heart out every single nite as a Rocket and I will always respect him.

I was talking about trade value to the team if we still had Francis.

Francis> Sura every time no doubt...

I do not want Francis on the Rockets team though...

I do not want all these old washed up inconsistent shooters either...

So Sure does not need find somebody else, he can create a shot by himself. Is that the point about the thread?

Francis is a way better player than Sura He just dosent fit the system that Jeff waned him to play hes not catch and shoot type of player and on the other hand he ants to run up and down the court which jeff wouldnt let him do. Stevie is a franchise player sura is a above average role player dont get me wrong sura is a hell of a player but not better than stevie so you guys have no right to be comparing them.

They did that, the Rockets won 108-99. I am assuming you meant schedule a full 5-on-5 game, as no one ever claimed Sura was a better 1-on-1 player.

Anytime anyone gets into an argument with brooksstephens, the punchline will be as follows:

You also said Sura is better than Francis. Shut your dumb ass up!

Sura has exceeded our expectations while SF never quite did.

SF's expectations were around 1000 times greater than Sura's.

If SF put up a a 10 pt, 5 assist, 5 rbd nite (Sura's averages), we'd be screaming for his head (and often did).

Steve Francis stats by position vs oppostion

Pos Min Net Pts Off Def Net48 W L Win%
    PG 72% -16 102.9 103.4 -0.6 20 17 54%
    SG 5% +25 101.9 89.8 12.2 12 6 66%

    And for BSura

    PG 41% +71 94.4 90.2 4.2 16 11 59%
    SG 3% -11 88.1 94.5 -6.4 2 8 20%

Looks like Boby helps his team more than Steve as a PG.
Looks like Steve should be SG and not a PG.

    Excellent!:D

Francis >>> Sura every day of the week, and twice on "Monday"

I don't know of anywhere else this would even be debatable

If the initiater of this thread would have simply rephrased it as "Sura is a better PG than Francis", he would've had little to no argument..

Calling him a better player is just downright wrong :p
