Considering we were a losing team with Jimmy Jackson this year I wouldn't be calling him Mr. Consistency.
at least when Wesley is missing his shots ... he stops shooting (not so for Mr. 4 for 15) btw - I like JJ, but that Suns trade is just silly - they already have two younger, better versions of Jackson in Johnson and Richardson
Actually i thought it was a good trade for them. JJ gives them some veteran leadership and a guy who can come off the bench and play the 2 and the 3. He will also allow them to rest some of their starters a little more so they wont be as tired come playoff time. Glad JJ got to go to a team that has a chance to contend...just hope we dont play them in the first round.
He is just in a shooting slump right now. He has proven throughout his career to be a VERY consistent shooter. You guys need to stop being so impatient with everything and everyone. Mark my words, Wesley will be a HUGE factor in why the Rockets are winning playoff games this season.
nash is their vertran leader they need another big not another 2-3 guy (the guys they traded are also 2-3 guys, only younger) Jacobson has more upside ... that being said, I wish JJ all the best and hope HE (not the Suns) does well
wesley's shot has been way off for sure but there's no denying the team's record since the trade. he doesn't take bad shots and doesn't try to go outside his limitations, let's just hope he can get his j back.
That's the same thing the Charlotte Hornets commentators used to say on NBA League Pass. That Wesley was hot and cold. He's a streaky shooter. All I remember is that D-West was HOT every night we played against the Hornets! He always seemed to score 25 against us!
Wesley's shooting has been a little off. But he's new and still isn't comfortable with our offense yet. Still, you can't deny the effect he has on defense. Might be our best defensive PG in a while. And JJ has NOT been consistent this season at all. Sure, it might look that way point-wise. But that's only because when he's in a slump, he stops passing the ball and starts jacking up shots like crazy. Something that a role player just can't do when you have Yao and T-Mac play with you.
Wesley has had little impact on the games. 4 points, 0 assists in the NY game. Look at R Strickland though - 4 assists from the elder! I like that - he is probably making league minimum - prorated for games played - a bargain, and at this point more impact than, Mr. Wesley. Let's get Rod to develop a Fro and we cab recall those fond memories of Mooch man hair!
Aw, c'mon.....that's ridiculous. Nobody wins games playing defense or attacking the rim on fastbreaks.... (almost used a wink)......
I'd like to add that just because Wesley is a streaky shooter, doesn't mean that I don't want him on my team. I do. He seems to have those scrappy intangibles that everyteam needs (Mario). Sure, I'd want Wesley to improve his 3pt shooting. But some of the things that I admired about him was that he never gave up, always played hard, low turnovers, never lets anyone get in his head (actually plays better when someone trash talks him), and can get in a 3 pt shooting zone. There will be many opportunities for D-West to go off on one of his 3-pt zones when the defenders sag off of TMac and Yao. I'm certain that we'll have Wesley win a few games for us singled handily based on the fact that he can get in those zones. As others have stated (Texas Stoke and GATER), scoring isn't the only thing you can do... Yes, it will drive me crazy on those nights that Wesley IS WIDE OPEN (all night long) and he can't hit! When that's the case, he BETTER BE DOING SOMETHING ELSE to help the team; hustle, diving for loose balls, defending like a mad man, and driving to the hoop ,etc...something! Just contribute some other way.
