    Just kidding... [IMG]

There has been a lot of talk about the television show, the West Wing, concerning how it reflects many of the realities of Washington D.C. Numerous talk show hosts have made the comment, "Wouldn't it be great to have a president like Josiah Bartlet" (Martin Sheen).

How many of you would like to have a president like Josiah Bartlet? Do you think Martin Sheen would ever have a chance of winning the presidency?

It certainly makes you wonder why we can't seem to have a president like the character on the West Wing -- Wouldn't it be nice to have a leader with class, convictions, and a genuine desire to do the right thing?

Scandal! His son Charlie is on drugs and pays for hookers.

Seriously, there is no reason why we can't have such a president. Sometimes I think the system washes them out of who they used to be. Gore and Bush were probably really good people a long time ago.

Someday, the system won't yield buffoons. It's just a matter of time before somebody steps up to the plate that we can respect. True leaders always emerge periodically. It all comes down to being yourself. If you believe in something to the core, it all comes naturally.

The Bartlett presidency is far different than what a Martin Sheen presidency would be, though.

The thing is, we may very well have good people becomming President, but would we ever know it? The press seems to find every single thing that has ever been done by a candidate. And if they can't find something, they'll print rumors or focus on something trivial about the candidate (like how they speak or some mistake they make in a debate or their smile or something like that) and amplify that beyond the truth.

If Reagan can do it, so can Martin...
Shoot, he's got military experience, "Capt. Willard, terminate with extreme prejudice!"
