Quitten didn't quit on the court, he quit after the season. TMac slacked while he was on the court. He even admitted that he was looking after himself and made sure that he had good #s by the end of the year in the SI article.

Would it have been acceptable to you had Sam I Am slacked off for a season after a couple of Championship years?

I get so tired of the "Orlando got better because of the trade." Not only is that an insult to the Rockets, but to Grant Hill, Hedo Turgkolu, Tony Battie, Dwight Howard and others.

If T-Mac stayed and they got Hill back and brought in that additional talent, they'd be one of the best teams in the eastern conference right now. I mean, the Rockets' third best player is Sura right now. Arguably, Turgkolu, Battie and Howard would ALL be more valuable on the Rockets than Sura at the moment.

Yeah, hypocrisy, I'm sure that was it. I mean, I'm sure this city and its fans would incessantly boo Quitten if he actually played hard, carried a trash team to the playoffs before he decided he can't do it any more instead of acting like a whiney ass b**** ever since he got here. Know what the problem is? If he actually (even at one point) played hard for the Rockets we might have forgiven him for even thumping his nose at us.

As for Beltran, I have to say I'm disappointed in both the fans and the situation. But hey, I'm sure the Chron was running articles bashing him left and right like Orlando and saying how we are better without him.

Quitten didn't even try to be part of the team, he played like he didn't care...maybe he didn't try at all

Maybe Pippen couldn't admit he slacked off...maybe he did try after all and just sucked

Seriously? I think there are a lot of people that would argue that T-Mac is a better talent than Francis. Someone said earlier that these articles are due to being from a one-trick town. SA, Sac, and Orlando have nothing better to cover so they expend all their energies on trashing former players. How exactly does one slack off and score 28 ppg? No matter how he felt from night to night, the Magic would have been 0-82 without T-Mac.

Yup, Quitten's stats sure showed it. If there is one case where stats paint the picture perfectly, it would be Quitten.

Hey, I wonder how Sam would feel if he's best big man is DeClerq and Outlaw while the "all star" Mike Miller was traded. I'm sure that guy named KG, who threatened to leave after severl unsuccess playoff runs was only looking after himself (in a situation ironically similar to TMac's, except that KG actually got the teammates he wanted).

And you'd have to be extremely naive if you think other players don't slack off on the court. TMac's problem is that he's still a dumb kid and said it out in the open.

Weisbrod sure did do a good job of tarnishing T-Mac's reputation there. There would probably be a tinge of resentment if it weren't for his public statements in regards to T-Mac, but I can't imagine it'd be anything like this. As for T-Mac quitting on the Magic, he's still just a 25 year old kid and he was with a bad team for four years. FOUR YEARS! Do you guys remember how long a year seems when you're young? Four years is eternity. I really think it's only natural that a kid of that age would get beaten into submission over four years with terrible team-mates. (well ok, the first year wasn't THAT terrible)

Considering the number of Super Bowls that are hosted in Florida cities, I'd be worried if I was a Magic fan....

How does a guy lead the league in scoring while slacking off? Sort of a rhetorical question.

On the other hand, why isn't anyone making anything out of Steve's lazy a** defense last night.

Call it slacking or dumb, he played lazy D -- where's Steve's effort in gaurding the pick-and-roll? As usual the other team's point gaurd goes off. I love Steve, but he slacks on defense, period.

I'll have to disagree. I think his #s were down due to 1) erosion of his game and 2) he didn't try to fit into Rudy's system.

He was lost out there, but he gave his effort.
Can't believe I defended him... got to end this with... he's still an ahole!

I don't have a problem with players wanting to leave... when their contract is up. I do not have a problem with players requesting to be traded. I do have a problem with players pushing for a trade while under contract and slacking because he wasn't getting his way.

Had Sam done the same, I would've booed him.

Oh, I do know many players slack off, but do "franchise" players slack off? Do we ever see that from the Duncans, KG, both O'neal, Kobe? Tmac was Orlando's franchise player, Orlando fans didn't expect him to mail it in, which he admittedly did.

Remember the "you want to sit down" look Cat gave Yao when Cat saw Yao was giving up in a losing game (I think this is from Yao's book)? This is what I expect from my Rockets and IMHO what I think every fan should expect from their franchise player.

Jeez, that paper is still sounding like a jaded ex-girlfriend that got dumped. It's like they're constantly trying to convince themselves that they're better off.....

I don't know why you guys are so surprised and taken aback at the Orlando media or the fans reaction. It's not like it's been years since this trade happened. This is the first freaking game back in Orlando. I still think all of you would act and feel the same way if the tables were turned.

Houston is no different. The 610 guys are so bitter and hateful toward Steve its sad. Steve played his ass off for this city and this team but they are so bitter. I don't know why. Matt Jackson errrrrrr Jim Rome wannabe called Steve a b****!!! What a loser. This is the same guy that will praise and suck steve's d$%* when he comes on 610 later today. These media guys are tough when they are spouting their takes but once the player or coach come on the show they act all cool and try to sugar coat everything. Get some balls dude, stop being all macho behind the mike b/c you have no reprocutions. I tried calling in the fan feed back to call him a biotch for being so immature but couldn't get through. Hopefully I can tonight. Peace.

Wow, I must be watching a different Quitten than you did.

You know what the funny thing is? TMac actually asked for the 2 seasons before that to improve his team. Mind you, he wasn't as insistent about it as he was last season but he still did. It's funny how some fans seem to have such short memory of it.

Not sure about Duncan, but hey, how about KG's playoff performance? What did JO'Neal do to get labelled a superstar. I'm guessing you missed the part where Shaq just walks up the court, shows up out of shape and takes surgery during the season. Don't even get me started about Kobe. How about the game he took one shot to prove that the team can't do without him, or saying "my heart is with LA" after he drove PJ, Shaq and now Karla out of town. You want a textbook definition of selfishness, look up Kobe

You are right. I mean, one jackass being a jackass sure speaks for a whole city. Matt Jackson is a moron but not every sportswriter in H-town agrees with him. On the other hand, name one South Florida paper/news media that didn't bash the hell out of TMac.
