Anyone heard if PJ has been suspended due to his fall semester grades? This guy is beginning to have a breakout year. DD
It's my understanding it is not a pass/fail thing but rather does he have enough credits to show he is progressing towards his degree at the right pace.
I was wondering the same thing. Saw him today walking out of class joking with Kenton Paulino and LaMarcus Aldridge, who was on crutches. Anyone know how serious his injury is?
Simply three x's my friend. Triple X. X-rated. I have no f'ing clue about some horn basketball player's grade situation. Can't say it shocks me though that there are potential issues.
No official word on either guy yet. However, they are saying that even if PJ is done for the semester, there is a slight chance he'd still be able to play in this Saturday's game vs. OU. I was impressed with the way the team stepped up without Aldridge at all vs. OSU, and Tucker having a poor first half. However, I really think Tucker would be the X-factor in the team making some noise in March. We'll live and die with Gibson's success, but I think Tucker's ability to force mismatches would really take us to the level of a team that "could" do some damage in the tourney. I guess we'll see how it plays out...I'm still holding out hope that maybe both situation's aren't as bad as they seem..... MAybe we'll see Connor Atchley come off of Redshirt....It'll be interesting to see what he brings to the table.
What does it say about a program when they are playing a player who they know has not satisfied academic requirements? Presumably, they were aware of his academic issues at the end of last semester, which was probably very early December. Yet he is still playing through mid January? All of this on the heels of the Mike Williams eligibility situation. They need to hire Coach Carter.
I'm thinking it says "innocent until proven guilty." Also, the Mike Williams issue, from what I've read, was one in which the university nor Williams were at fault. I'm trying to find a link, but it was a column very early this year on CNNSI or ESPN.com.
You're right. It was a misunderstanding about a previous encounter with a booster. Aldridge's injury isn't as serious as was previously thought but no official word yet (I work for KVRX sports here at the UT radio station so as soon as I find out I'll let you guys know).
TUCKER IS ACADEMICALLY INELIGIBLE Texas sophomore forward P.J. Tucker, the Longhorns' leading scorer and rebounder, is academically ineligible for the second semester, which began Tuesday. The word I'm hearing is that you must pass 6 hours the first semester to remain eligible. Six hours equates to 2 normal length classes. Teams will stoop to some pretty low depths in terms of "scholar-athletes" in order to put a winner on the court it seems.
