You are incorrect. We may be referring to different posts, but DocRocket reported an incident between JVG and Les on the practice floor, which was clearly audible players and staff in the building. That same post had some quotes filtered through DR. Since the search function isn't working, I can't find the exact post, but you are welcome to try, or ask in another thread...
Let me reiterate my last point. You take quotes out of context, or vague points from a YEAR ago, and try to apply them to the current situation, which is everly changing. The shouting match you are referring to is where JVG yelled that he should stop spending so much money on marketing and hire more assistant coaches. Remember when you said JVG was to blame for not even considering Elie? And that when I told you of that quote, you said it was probably just hearsay? You are incorrect. Get your facts and quotes straight before starting the argument.
You are the one who is confused. I still believe JVG was the one who turned down Elie. Nothing contradicts that viewpoint, and circumstantial evidence points the finger squarely at JVG. As I remember, your claim about the "assistant coaches" line was that it was "reported in the Chronicle." Last I noticed, DocRocket was not Jonathan Feigen. (who knows, he may be If you can find the DR post, the way I remember it was that JVG wanted out of some media/promotion obligation, and indicated that Les should spend MORE on media people, so "the assistant coaches and I don't have to do that stuff." I am quite willing to admit my memory may be faulty. If you are referring to DR, it IS hearsay. You can choose to believe it or not. His track record gives it legitimacy, but it is just another post on a BBS.
And I'll admit my memory was wrong in thinking the Chron picked up on it. I remember now Doc reporting it, but I'm pretty sure it was about Les spending too much on marketing.
Win or lose, this thread will be very popular after tonight's game. All the smart people will come out with this "I told you so" attitude.
This thread already is number four "with a bullet" on the "most replies" hit parade. 68 to overtake the "logo" thread for number 3 is a cinch. 258 to overtake "JJ Boki traded" is a distinct possibility. 1600-odd to overtake "McGrady traded" is unlikely, although if the thread continues through Van Gundy actually getting fired, it is a possibility. For the record, I think this thread should be merged with the fairly lengthy "Jeff Van Gundy should be fired" one, which would already put it in second place
Michigan is pretty far up North. Van Gundy will never be a die hard Rocket because he isn't one, and apparently doesn't want to become one.
Does this even matter? Anyway I am so glad I will be here to see you cry and wince in pain as JVG out-lives your stuck-in-mud campaign. This your whole stance has gone from elementary stuff to laughing stock. You have sworn and done this deal with the devil that you will prefer to see the Rockets lose for you selfish reasons - so much for a true fan. By now folks around have figured you out. It is a shame that you have fallen even lower than lucipher's [no pun intended] fall from grace because you used to be one of the more respected Clucthfans. Go ahead - keep it up Don't look now; you are almost all by yourself.
Dude he's the COACH of the ROCKETS. doesn't matter how many Rockets games you watch or how many jerseys you have. You are not a Rocket. He has full power of choosing lineups, making plays, even trades. He has POWER and controls the ROCKETS. edc, you can dress and dance and even sing like Michael Jackson, but you will never be as powerful as Michael Jackson himself. Van Gundy is michael jackson of the rockets.
Perhaps so. Van Gundy's best days are behind him, and he convinces age-inappropriate guys to join him in his little NBA "Neverland Ranch" clubhouse.
He gets credit. For that recent Spurs victory. Beyond that, this season has just been more of the same.
(1) Let jvg be? Perhaps the day after Les Alexander introduces the next head coach of the Houston Rockets. (2) There are far more people from the Knicks organization who will concur that jvg is a "kick the puppy" type of guy. Some may call that intensity, but there is no excuse for being rude.
last time I reply in this thread. van Gundy will remain coach through this and next season. he aint going anywhere. hes not getting fired.
Yep. The real question is, if T-Mac (and Yao) "go back to what they've always been doing," what need is there for JVG? On the offensive side of the ball, at least, he becomes a headwind to overcome, instead of a tailwind pushing you forward.
