The role players were 8-28 from the floor and we let the Pacers shot over 50% from the floor. That's the game right there.

The Rockets have no depth. Teams with depth don't shoot this badly from 3 point range. I have never seen the teams like the Mavs and Kings shoot this badly from 3 point range.

Herschel Walker trade here we come

Yeah, so looks like the key is role players hit their shots, not Yao gets his points.

Yao struggled but role players hit their shots, rox won.

I think that you should know the answer yourself. If you are not a star player, you are a role players. That's the simple reality in the league. I love Sura's hustle, energy, rebounding......but he is not a lead guard. Tinsley tonight showed Sura how a true lead guard should run the offense: either half court offense or run and gun offense. The Rockets offense is a mess the majority of the times.

Well, so much for turning a corner. What the hell happened to our offense? (Charvo, don't bother to reply) We've become the stagnant half-court team again. I thought this team was going to come to play tonight and just came out sleep walking again. That is still the most frustrating thing about this team. When they bring full energy and hustle, from start to finish, they are hard to beat but they just don't do it consistantly.

Still interesting that Taylor was put on IR right before the game for the flu.

Even if Yao plays average or just below average, he still holds his own, in addition to being the decoy.

As bad as the 4 is for the team, the key is for the guards to hit their shots consistently (40+%) for most games.

Geese, 3 of the last 3 Rockets losses came at the hands of raining 3s from our opponents (Suns, Lakers, and Pacers).

I thought that this was a positive game for the Rockets as a whole. Yao got the ball on plenty of occasions and even though Sura missed a few golden opportunities to get Yao the ball when he was wide open. But we need Yao to regain some of his confidence back if we're gonna go anywhere. Id rather see Yao play a good game and us lose instead of us depending on Juwan and role players carrying the scoring load and winning. Role players are not the future of this team.

yes, it's true. it's more and more like Magic when you have only one or two playing well.

i think jvg is not good at couching, at least he doesnt know how to react to the adjustment the other team made.

Ming finished the first 3 quarters with 7-12, and finished the whole game with 7-12.

I said that Yao is best off playing with GREAT catch and shoot guys. The Rockets can't have good shooters. They Rockets have to have great catch and shooter guys surrounding Yao. This is why this team is just a mess. It's really built to be more of an uptempo offense than a slow-down half-court offense. Mix and match doesn't work. Go all the way uptempo or go all the way half-court.

Yao Played a solid game, Let see,

    Yao 41 mins 7-12 7-8 9Rbs 3 blks 2 stls 4 Tos 4 PFs 21 pts
    efficient point 25

    Foster 22 mins 5-5 1-2 5Rbs 0 blks 3 stls 2 Tos 4 PFs 11pts
    efficient point 16

Yao overpowered rival center, how about J Oneal, their biggest star

    41 mins 12-26 3-5 7 Rbs 2 blks 2 stls 4 Tos 4 PFs 27pts
    efficient point 18

He shot 14 times more than yao and only made 6 more PTs. At least in this position, yao won the battle.

That's bull. A win is a win no matter where the scoring comes from.

T-mac has an ok game, but a bad shoot night behind 3.
Yao has an ok game, but have a couple of TOs unexcusable. However, he is an obvious mis-matchup, but his teammates didn't trust him enough to take advantage of it. When you hesitate to pass to Yao, it is more likely to cause a TO because you have to catch the first moment of time window to pass to him.

Howard has an ok game, he tried very hard to defend JO although this is a really tough matchup.

Sura has a coupld of good driving, BUT I really don't like his defense tonight. He should remember his role in this team. The team needs his hustling and rebound and a little bit driving. But he is not a star, he should be more focused on his defense task, he should shoot only when he is open, he should reduce the time of holding the ball, and simply pass the ball to yao and t-mac in most occasions.

What happened to wesley and barry? they simply lost their shooting touch.

It's kinda frustrating to watch the Rockets melt down, or never came out in the fourth quarter. Players are just afraid to make mistakes and make a play. If you are open, shoot the three. If it's clogged in the paint with two Indiana players wrestling with Yao, try to drive a little bit. You can't expect a win, with T-Mac trying only, and Yao fighting hard for positions. The others really have to make plays, that's what back court for.

What happened to high low entry pass? How come noone tries again? T-Mac shoots a lot, but he also really tries hard to set Yao up, and other teammates. Because he knows he's going nowhere alone, from his magic experience. But others need to step up a little bit, and Yao has to learn to play smart defense. Of course the refs are not helping today either, nothing really new. Every team is fronting Yao now, and with another one cheating at the back, guards really need to practice more with Yao, to time the entry pass, try something different, life lob pass, high-low, drive and dish etc. There was no flow at all in the fourth quarter. Ewing and JVG need to come up with some new plays to get the big fella touches, even some jump shots after PnR. Rockets still has a long way to go.
