I voted for Duncan, but I always think Duncan is the MVP. The Spurs would be crap without Duncan. Any of those other candidates have real stars plying with them: Marion, Cassell, Finley, etc, but Duncan elevates mediocre players like Parker, Ginobili, and Nesterovich to look like stars. The Spurs would definitely be among the worst teams in the league if they lost Duncan, and that can't be said for any of those other players (except The Rapist, but the Lakers aren't really all that great WITH him).
i disagree. i mean, no doubt duncan is a superstar. but say the spurs traded duncan for illgauskas and a pick (i know it'll never happen, but just follow me), i think the rest of the spurs would pick up the slack. ginobili is much better than you're giving him credit and parker is a very solid if not good pg. now if you trade nash for anybody, hell even marbury was there last year, then the tempo and the flow of the suns game is gone.
Dallas doesn't have Nash anymore and their uptempo game hasn't sufferred one bit compared to last season. I really think you guys are overrating him.
Nash is the MVP just because he gets so many other players equal shots. He is getting Amare an extra 8pts a game at least. The other night on the rockets game they mentioned the suns average 19 fast break points a game that goes back to Nash therefore he is the MVP.
I'd have to go with Duncan, they'd be mediocre without him but with him they're a good team. I know a lot of people won't agree with me but I think that's why Kome is on the list. Even though they're not that good, without Bryant, the Lakers would be the bottom feeders of the nba. I say this even as a Kobe hater.
dallas is a whole nother system. the fact is. phoenix sucked...now they kick ass, no other major changes.
Except they added Quentin Richardson, a very good player in his own right (he averages 16/6) and moved Amare to C. They've also had the same starting lineup every game but 1, which helps a lot.
i voted Duncan. I want to vote garnett because he is just so good, but his team is playing bad. Duncan is the best now. Nash is playing great, but i do not think he is the mvp. he has some very good players next to him(Amare, Marion). And his d is not so good.
Now that i think about it i should have added T-Mac & D. Wade. Though its highly unlikley ether one will win the MVP award this year at least.. (hmmm T-Mac )
I had to go with Nash. Everyone gives Amare so much credit for having a great season (which he deserves), but without Nash setting him up for the easiest shots in the league, he wouldn't be putting up these numbers.
originally, I would have voted for LBJ simply because he makes EVERYONE around him better. As Steve Kerr said about him after the LA game when Kobe left, LBJ had a terrible game, and still nearly had a triple double. Imagine having a good game. HOWEVER, (and please, don't hate me for this), but what about McGrady lately?? Ever since the shoot out with Dirk back in Dec, T-Mac's been on fire and the team is winning games. If you don't believe me, check the article Clutch posted on the main page, that's where I got the idea from anyway (thanks for that Clutch )
[ \start conspiracy theory] So is Phoenix is trying to tie up one award (MVP), by tanking it early in the season with Nash absent. [\end conspiracy theory].
