Well, I have to go into work today. Not very happy about it. Martin Luther King's Birthday has been a holiday in the US for close to 20 years. I am not saying that every place should be closed but it should be the same as Memorial Day. After all, Dr. King gave his life for civil rights just as soldiers of this country gave their lives in fighting in various wars. And to make things even worse, it is like 14 degrees outside and factoring in the windchill, like damn 0 degrees. In other words, the perfect day to stay inside and not get out.
We're working today. On Friday...my receptionist, who's hispanic, left early. She called in to my office administrator, who is black, and asked, "do we have to work on MLK day???" our office administrator answered..."i have a dream, and you're gonna be at work on Monday!!" priceless....so freakign funny!
I work at a Newspaper so we never have Holidays off except the BIG ones. However I did take a vacation day today to watch all the NBA games going on this afternoon on NBALP!
I'm working but since I'm a consultant and only get paid for the hours I work, I'm glad to be here. Kind of. I'd rather be sleeping or golfing or sitting on my ass doing nothing but I like getting paid more. Its no big deal, I will probably be out of here by 3 and still get paid for 8. All they care about is if we get our numbers.
Also at work and wishing I was still sleeping. My company is foreign-owned and doesn't believe in civil rights .
Been here since 7. Of course it can't be that bad a job if you get to post/surf at clutch bbs while on the clock.
Working today... had to work both days this past weekend, too. Gonna break the bank for this pay period.
I got a job in a seafood and meat department at a grocery store. Cleaning up meat and stuff aint so bad until I realize what I'm doin for a living....cleaning up meat and stuff. Anyhow, I'm off tomorrow.
