Yeah, I'm with you. Height is the key. You notice how much the Rockets switch up on D? They can do that out on the perimeter because they all have (comparable) height.
Rockets don't need guys who are argueing with coaches. Some struggling team that doesn't have much options at the position might go for him and invest in him, not team that will seat him for most of the game so he can start another rebellion. Rox must get Udirh. He will bing them nash-type passes. Then BB should be fun to watch. Again.
guess, you think Sloan should be replaced then? and every youngster should go out saying he deserves more minutes?
If you ask me I think since the rockets are already trying to get Donyeall Marshall from Toronto why dont we ask the to throw in Rafer Alston and that way we can have a good point gaurd coming of the bench like he did in miami and then we can have our sixth man coming in Donyell marshall that can spread and open it up for defenders.
Arroyo trade rumors renewed Web site reports that benched point guard is on the block By Tim Buckley Deseret Morning News After Jazz coach Jerry Sloan did not play deposed starting point guard Carlos Arroyo for a fourth straight game, sitting him out of Monday night's road win over the Los Angeles Lakers, the seemingly inevitable trade talk took a national turn. ESPN's Chad Ford, writing Tuesday on ESPNInsider.com, suggested an Arroyo deal could soon be in the works. "According to several league executives who have inquired about his availability, Arroyo is definitely on the trading block," Ford wrote on the paid subscription-required Web site. "The fallout between Arroyo and (Sloan) has disintegrated to the point Jazz GM Kevin O'Connor feels like he has to make a move." O'Connor, however, took issue with that suggestion after being informed of it late Tuesday afternoon. "Do I feel like we have to make a move?" he said. "No. Absolutely not." O'Connor, the Jazz's senior vice president for basketball operations, said recently he has not engaged in any "substantive" trade talk regarding Arroyo. But he does not deny discussing Arroyo and other Jazz players with various teams around the league, and Tuesday he again did not rule out the possibility of the 14-26 team making some sort of trade before the NBA's Feb. 24 deadline. Whether Arroyo is part of any such deal, however, remains to be seen. The Jazz's starting point guard in each game he played last season and again when he returned from an ankle sprain early this season, Arroyo has slipped to fourth in the pecking order ¡X behind starter Keith McLeod, backup Raul Lopez and combo/No. 3 Howard Eisley ¡X since engaging in a brief sideline exchange with Sloan during a game last month. The two later made amends publicly. In the Jazz's last five games, however, Arroyo has played a total of two minutes. Several times in the past few weeks, Arroyo has publicly expressed his unhappiness over not playing more and not starting. That probably won him no favor with Sloan, who countered by questioning Arroyo's record of attendance at non-mandatory practices and medical-treatment sessions. "The team seems to play with more energy when McLeod is in the game," Ford wrote. "Combine that with what Sloan believes is Arroyo's questionable work ethic and attitudes since his return, and it looks like the two are heading for divorce court." Reports out of Detroit and Houston have suggested both the Pistons and Rockets are known to have asked about Arroyo, but Ford reports all those two teams are "able to offer right now is an expiring contract." As alternative potential destinations prior to the trade deadline, Ford suggests "teams like" Atlanta, Charlotte, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers and Orlando "have the assets to make a trade and would be great fits for Arroyo." "While the Jazz might eventually accept (salary) cap relief for Arroyo," Ford wrote, "right now they're hoping to land a quality player in return instead." Arroyo, the starting point guard for Puerto Rico's national team in last summer's Olympic Games, signed a four-year, $16 million contract this past offseason. The guaranteed deal pays $4 million this season. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- E-mail: tbuckley@desnews.com
I agree that AD is who the Rockets want and I would bet he owuld like to come here - the only concern I have is that AD will be 30 next season - Arroyo is 25. I would like to see the ROckets try to get another younger player to go along side Yao, 24 and Tmac, 25
from the beloved word processor of Peter V: http://www.nypost.com/sports/38952.htm Carlos Arroyo, reduced to fourth point status (DNP-coach's decision, four straight games) for not conforming to Jerry Sloan's team concept and refusing to back off his macho stance, will be traded, but positively not to the Clippers. Look for the Pistons to get him today for Elden Campbell and a future first-round pick. * Plus, some other tidbits: So, a guide dog relieved itself in Orlando on the court Tuesday prior to the second half of Pistons-Magic. I couldn't help but think it was the opening act of McGrady's return to Disney last night. T-Mac, by the way, accused the pooch of "slacking off." Despite denials out of Boston, the Celtics' intentions regarding rising free agent Antoine Walker are indeed honorable. They also can provide enough expiring and humble contracts to meet trade requirements. The snags? The Hawks demand rookie Al Jefferson or a first-round pick be included in the mix. It appears that's not going to happen. Ownership has expressed its unwillingness to re-sign Walker. As always, the Knicks are angling to turn this into a three-way affair where they wind up cuddling with Walker. Should the Celtics fail to make any kind of a vivid addition or subtraction (Paul Pierce is liable to be relocated no matter what management mouths) by the Feb. 24 trad ing deadline, Danny Ainge, his trigger finger twitchin' like never before, is almost required to trade Gary Payton while he can still get something for his free agent-in-waiting. *
I knew he wasn't likely going to go for a TE and a pick, but Campbell and a pick? Especially considering that Detroit will have a number 20 or higher for the forseeable future? I can't help but think some team can outbid that - especially the Hawks. Evan
the Hawks don't need another PG... but if this is true, I have the believe that the Rockets could offer more (if nothing else because it looks like their pick would be higher) The Rox were mentioned with the Pistons by ESPN as offering expiring contracts and draft picks ... so maybe, the Rox want to draft a PG or go after AD in the off season
It would be fun, however, watching Eldon play for Jerry Sloan (LOL). But, let's remember -- the penner of this is: Peter Vexed.
http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&postid=1685890 another one bites the dust, traded to the Pistons
Arroyo would have been a nice addition to this team. He is a pure PG that is a good shooter and can run an efficient offense. He is also on a very cheap contract. I hope we can pick up AD this summer, but since we only have the MLE to spend. The Rockets might have a difficult time trying to solve both PG/PF problems with the little money we have to spend. We might have to rely on a lot of sign and trade deals this summer.
Agreed some how we have to land Swift & Bobby Jackson. The only way i see that happiening is sign and trades. The real question is wat do we have to trade? NOTHING!
It has been proved in ESPN : http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1972052 I wonder why we can't get him, who is a real PG that rockets need. Maybe CD and JVG only trust older guys >35 yrs
Chad Ford says Campbell will be waived. So why couldn't the Rockets have picked up Arroyo for the trade exception, which would have saved Utah from paying Campbell? I guess the Rockets must not have been that serious about acquiring him.
