Just came down on Ira Newble's foot. Had to be carried off the court by Brian Grant and Devean George. Doesn't look good for the Lakers.

TNT is obsessed. They are having regular live updates from the locker room.

I tend to doubt he'll miss any more than a week, simply because he can't afford to. That team without him is worse than last year's Heat without Dwyane Wade. They probably wouldn't be better than .250 or .300 in his absence.

This is the same way I broke my ankle, they did not see it at first, then they saw 2 tiny fractures on both sides, that was in June and just this last week I started getting to around 85% on the basketball court, and it still fricken hurts.

    :(

Can't believe that the Rockets/Nets are still fontpage espn.com with all the Kobe news.

I do not believe that notion holds true. The team that beat Denver the other night via a double digit comeback did so with Kobe on the bench.

On paper they look like hopeless without Kobe but they are indeed better than our team without tmac.

    I'll say the current Lakers without Kobe is better than the current;

    Nets
    Hornets
    Hawks
    Knicks
    Raptors

I wonder how long Kobe will be out. If the Lakers struggle while he's recovering, it might help open things up for the Rockets come season's end. For Rudy's sake, I'd like the Lakers to make the playoffs, but I'm still a Rockets fan first and foremost.

while i'm sure the comeback moved this number down a little, the last time 82games.com updated, the lakers had a massive either -18 or -20 +/- without kobe on the court. the only guy who i could find with a larger negative number was richard jefferson. i think i could only find dirk as having a larger net +/- number (about +14 with him and -12 w/o him or so).

with kobe on the court for 43 minutes, they have been a +2.5 team, a respectable team that would win about 48 games, and yet in the 5 minutes he's off the court they nearly give it all back. it's kind of amazing. now maybe they're turning the corner a little with the comeback the other night and pulling out this win, but it could be the way indiana won a few games right after all the suspensions b/c of the energy and unity of the team and then came back to earth and started losing like crazy until o'neal got back.

lamar is good, but lamar plus scrubs isn't much. they were playing mihm, jones, atkins, i think medvedenko, and some guy named vuljacic (sp?), who i only know from seeing his name next to DNP-CD in the boxscore, at one point. that lineup won't last long.

if kobe is out, this team will struggle quite badly.

That's short sighted. I hope they cut his leg off so he can live a long and painful life as a gimp who has to get by with his "winning personality" rather than his atheletic skills.

Crap, it's not going to help me out very much w/ my fantasy team!

But I am happy that teams are going to feast on a Kobe-less Faker team. :D

He'll be out for a week or two and play at about 90% for a couple months before he's himself again. He goes down like this just about every season. Rudy was asking for it, playing him 42 minutes a game. That's a bit much.

and how was Rudy asking for it? it was in the second quarter of the game???

hate on Kobe all you want but there is no reason to blame Rudy.

Just like the Cavs feasted on them. Man they just had no energy. They really let one get away from them and thus allowing rockets to stay behind them in the standings! grrrr
