Talks begin in effort to land swingman

    Wednesday, January 12, 2005

    Star-Ledger Staff

Desperate for another able body -- preferably the kind who can do at least some of the things that Richard Jefferson can do -- the Nets have reached out to the Hornets to learn what it would take to send Jimmy Jackson to New Jersey.

The veteran swingman was suspended by New Orleans for refusing to report after being traded from Houston on Dec. 27, and he is forfeiting $27,000 for every game he misses.

So Nets president Rod Thorn contacted Hornets counterpart Allan Bristow yesterday, according to a team official, and talks have begun in earnest. Meanwhile, the Nets are also waiting for Golden State to accept their offer of a trade exception and a second-round draft pick for Clifford Robinson.

The reuniting of two of the three J's...sounds like more fun in the swamp.

If he won't report to the Hornets why would he to the Nets...not to much difference there.

if they land cliff, or any decent PF for that matter, then bring in jj to fill RJ's role they can still make the playoffs in the east.

I think the Nets would shape up into a contender if JJ went there.

I much see JJ help Shaq win a title in Miami, mainly so the Lakers look like the Biggest Idiots in NBA History, but I'm sure JVG is begging Stan not to touch him.

I think there ws some stabbing in the back by JVG to JJ. I rememeber JJ saying how the biggest thing between him and JVG was trust. That JVG would trust that JJ would play giving it his all, and JJ could trust JVG to keep him around. Next season, JJ is traded and throws a tantrum.

I heard there was some bad blood back in the day in Dallas because JJ hooked up with JKidd's girl at the time. JKidd is happily married now, so maybe he can get over it???

Still, I rather see JJ in Miami.

You're joking right? Do you mean like, JJ of 7-8 years ago?

NJ wasn't a contender with RJ, they wouldn't be one with JJ.

Maybe this has benn discussed in another thread . . . did anyone else catch AirBull's (Bullard's) take on the Wesley for JJ trade, last week on 610 AM on the "Rich and the Voice" show.

Apparantly he said that JJ is a major ahole and lockeroom lawyer. CD and JVG were sick and tired of his "act." This might explain why he's been on 13 different teams.

Also, on NBATV last night before the game, Peter Vescey said T-Mac and JJ didn't get along. That was news to me.

Interesting. The club made a choice: Tmac or JJ, Tmac or JJ, Tmac or JJ -- tough call.
