There have been some bad ones Eddie Celtic Pride The Sixth Man some OK ones The Air Up There Above The Rim some good ones He Got Game White Men Can't Jump I haven't seen Love & Basketball yet Currently being made and will be released in 2001 is the film Juwanna Mann, about an NBA player who is booted out of the league for his on-court antics, so he poses as a woman to join the WNBA. (Dennis Rodman anyone?) Vivica A. Fox, Kim Wayans, Tommy Davidson and singer Ginuwine co-star. The title character is played by Miguel Nunez. "The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh" ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
He got game white men can't jump uh, that's about it. I usually don't find those trans gender comedies as that enjoyable, but that Juwanna movie sounds funny outlaw. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
Hoop Dreams should be required viewing. One of the most powerful films of all time. Hoosiers is classic all the way. ------------------
Blue Chips is a must see also ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
Bad choice Bob! You were just hoping no one else had seen it, eh? Hoop Dreams White Men Can't Jump Soul in the Hole (only OK) I had too many problems with choices Spike Lee mad for He Got Game. It was based on Marbury, but tried to make it even more dramatic/symbolic. ------------------ Talking to a dead hare about art
Bob - a movie with Shaq is a must see? rimmy - I didn't like He got game at first either, but I enjoyed it more after I saw it again. Except for that awful ending. I liked the father/son relationship. And how none of the characters were truly likeable. The music as well as the transition from scene to scene was well done too. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
OK, Air Bud may not be the best BASKETBALL movie of all time, but it's the best "animals playing sports" movie of all time, with that field goal kicking mule a close second As for Hoops movies, White Men Can't Jump is the all time greatest...Rosie Perez was awesome... "What is a quince?? It's a FOOD, Billy, that starts with the letter Q!!!! And I got seven more!!!!" If you're into drama, there's a little known film called Heaven is a Playground, that you can catch on TV sometimes, although I saw it at the video store last night. It's a complex story about a mentally unstable college basketball star, a guy that runs a rec league in the projects, and a white, middle class lawyer...Plus, Hakeem Olajuwon makes a cameo appearance... He Got Game was cool simply because of Denzel's fro Space Jam was awesome.... Celtic Pride was horrible simply because the JAZZ won the NBA title!! I don't care if it WAS a movie, that's simply blasphemous... ------------------ If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding!! AIR BUD??????????? UGH! I am not sure what the best b-ball movie was, but the worst was the Air Up There. Terrible! ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
There was that scene in that movie, Forget Paris, where Billy Crystal is an NBA referee, and ejects Kareem from his farewell game.....classic! ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Hoosiers is absolutely THE best feel-good basketball movie ever made, so far. White Men Can't Jump is my second choice, followed by He Got Game. ------------------ RocketFuel is dead!
That documentary on Rucker Park was pretty good! ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Which was the one with DB Sweeney and Hakeem ? ------------------ "Well, I don't know what I received my honorary degree in, but judging by the fine sisters in the crowd, I hope it is gynecology." Mike Tyson speaks to the crowd after receiving his honorary degree from a college in Ohio.
That was my choice as well Bob. Hoosiers was better but"The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh" was very humorous. ------------------ Houston Rockets Forever!! In Rudy We Trust
Rebound: The Legend of Earl "The Goat" ------------------ I'm sticking with Charlotte. I can't flip because I don't want to be confused with Peter Vecsey. -- Charles Barkley
1. Hoosiers 2. White Men Can't Jump 3. Hoop Dreams 4. He Got game 5. Blue Chips Anyone seen basketball Diaries? Is that good? Funny basketball scenes I remember Teen Wolf Soul Man ------------------ humble, but hungry.
gr8-1,Heaven is a Playground is the movie you are talking about with Hakeem in it.I think that is the same movie that Jordan was suppose to be in but wasent so he was suied or almost suied im not for sure.It was alright, way better than He Got Game!Whoever can say Shaqs acting skills suck and still put He Got Game on there best B-ball movie list did not watch Ray Allen to close,Shaq is the next Denzel compared to Allen. Hoop Dreams was great, I hope someone has been making another just like it,what if they could get some kids that actually made it as far as the NBA.That reminds me a fellow bbs member has my Hoop Dreams,I lent it to him so he could see two sandwiches,I want it back! Ray is a lucky man though HINT:Chasey Lain& Jill Kelly!!!!! ------------------
Basketball Diaries was a great movie but I really dont consider it to be a "basketball movie". A lot of you have Hoosiers as one of the best B-ball movie,I have never seen it,maybe I should. ------------------
