    Teacher accused of having sex with teenage student

    BRISTOL, Va. A teacher at a middle school in Bristol, Virginia has been suspended following accusations she had sex with one of her students.

    Authorities say 32-year-old Melissa Deel of Bristol, Tennessee, is charged with felony carnal knowledge and taking indecent liberties with the boy, who is 13. Deel taught eighth-grade ancient world history and contemporary world issues.

    According to police records, the boy and his parents went to police last month. Bristol Police Detective Keith Anderson says NO other students have come forward.

    Deel's attorney, David Harmon, declined to comment today when contacted by The Associated Press.

    Deel is free on bond and is scheduled to be arraigned January 24th in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

    Yes. 32 - 19 = 13. And also, the article said she taught 8th grade... But 3814 found her listed in an elementary school... Somehow I think there are 2 Ms. Deels.

    Damn, I was never this lucky in school...:p

    Anyway, i'd hit it and I still have to say, there is this double standard...For the most part, its ok for a female teacher to do this, but if a male teacher did this, he'd be lynched...Don't agree with both, but it does happen and probably did back when I went to school, but the way the media is today, everyone hears about everything...
