I just notice this: sura not try to pass to yao in most time. And I feel sura like Tmac much more then yao. If yao is fronted or Doubled then not pass to him is ok because it is easy to lead to a TO but many times between sura and yao just has one guy who is guard on sura but sura still not pass to yao. I just feel strange. who can tell me I'm right or wrong.
oh rice, you havent heard? everybody on the rockets, including the fans and the ballboy, have it out for yao. they want him to fail and hate him because he is chinese. their plan is just coming into frutation now. god, you are so behind the times. get with it. in fact i saw bob sura on the cell phone at the supermarket secretly plotting to NEVER pass the ball to yao, because 'all of us hate him so much'. yaos career will be ruined if he stays in houston! ruined! thats why he should go to the lakers, where kobe will give him the ball every single time on the court.
whatever, i think the problem is not about pass the ball to tmac or to yao, the problem is how to choose the right guy. tmac and yao are both good shooter, they can score well, but it doesn't mean they can score anytime you give em the ball. our guard must learn to read the game well and make the right decision. tmac get more or yao get more?it's ok if we can win . look back the games that this team performed well in corrent season, we will find that in all these games tmac and yao all got many correct oppertunity to handle the ball, so do not complain yao or tmac do not recieve enough pass, it is a team, not any single player they must find a way to play well TOGETHER.
The big guy will start getting the ball a lot more the moment he starts demanding it. Until then, he's just another player.
Until the Rockets get a true PG who makes a living of passing, Yao is not gonna get the ball, period. You don't expect that 3rd tier PGs don't care about their stats, do you? They need to think about their next contract constantly. JVG at least had the guts to bench Sura in the 4th quarter against the Suns last night. Dude was play like a POS and was still trigger happy.
Members of the leaguewide conspiracy to freeze Yao out: Steve Francis Cuttino Mobley Moochie Norris Tito Maddox Mike Wilks Mark Jackson Charlie Ward Tyronn Lue Andre Barrett Bob Sura David Wesley I sense Falun Gong or Richard Gere at work. Oh well, if we ever get a true point guard like Mark Jackson the world will see the truth!
SF3, Mark Jackson passed the ball to Yao quite often last season. Didn't Yao say that he wish that MJ were 5 years younger so that he could have his PG set for the future? Ward, Lue, Wilks all tried to make the passes to Yao. Lue's problem was his height and it made him a terrible passer. The only ones on your list that mostly refuse to pass to Yao are Cat and Sura.

After reading this thread, I think I am starting to understand why people are getting fed up with the YOFs...
Do some of ya'll actually believe that players are deliberately freezing out Yao? As strict as JVG is, do you think he would allow this to happen? We blamed SF/Cat for not passing to Yao and now we are blaming the new guys. It's not that they don't want to pass to Yao, its that JVG tells them NOT to pass to Yao if he doesn't have good position. 2 Guys that Freeze Yao Out 1. Yao Ming 2. JVG
Steve Francis Cuttino Mobley Moochie Norris Tito Maddox Mike Wilks Mark Jackson Charlie Ward Tyronn Lue Andre Barrett Bob Sura David Wesley Common denominator: average passer at best, or simpily over the hill.
Sura is the first guy to bring the ball up the court. What does it mean when the first guy to bring the ball across half court goes to a spot and passes the ball to Yao. It means you get a lot of standing around, no movement, isolations. and the fans, that is what really gets their goat - the ole' iso. the ole' 1 pass and shot routine. So, the first guy to bring the ball across court - which is usually Sura - will usually not be the guy passing to Yao first. We're just gonna have to learn to live with that but I think we'll be ok.
By the way, Barry did try to pass to Yao the last game. One was intercepted before reaching Yao. The other, you know what, the infamous, wide-open catch and drop by Yao after Barry decided to pass in midair while shooting. AB was with Mount Mutom most of the time, so he's off the hook.
It's true to a certain extent. Unfortunately, Sura would still swing the ball to the top even when Yao had good position. I think it was mostly a designed play by JVG, to have Yao roll to the middle first, then the opposite side if needed. But to me, it's a wasted opportunity. There was simpily no need to swing the ball around if Yao already had good position. I don't think it's was Sura's intention to ignore Yao though.
