    I am a Chinese student in US. My English is poor so I do not post too much. But I can confirm that fa7999 is basically speaking the truth and what he said is a genuine translation from the news in Chinese.

    Many fans in China can't watch this game on TV; in stead they tracked the game from the internet. It is very painful, as well as upset to see that Yao only got 19 minutes of playing time last night although Yao said his physical condition is fine during the post-game interview. Fans do not know what's been going on between Yao and JVG. But they felt Yao isn't very happy for the situation and they do not think it is fair to single Yao out for the loss, especially considering T-Mac¡¯s poor shooting last night.

    JVG left Dikembe in there because he was more effective.

    I don't think it had anything to do with Yao, but rather with Deke playing well.

    Isn't it the HOUSTON ROCKETS?

    Isn't it a team game?

    Hey, maybe Yao is starting to get selfish, that would be great !

    Your english is very good.

    But Yao played 28 minutes last night.

    With the uptempo style of play, and the way Deke was going, I don't see any problem with the amount of minutes he played.

    Thanks Qian for the confirmation. My Chinese is poor and that's why I am asking some Chinese fans out there to try to do the translation for us. There are 3 articles and one audio interview that tell the whole story.

    On Dec. 30, 2004, in the program headed by Su Qun (a top Chinese basketball writer and announcer who is talking to Yao on a regular basis), he told the audience that Yao is thinking of going to LA and lots of his friends (including those reporters in LA and Houston) are trying to convince Yao to make the move. This caused huge controversy among Yao followers in China. A couple of days later, Su came out and confirmed the story. According to Su, Yao is not happy and would consider a move if the Rockets does not improve in the near future. Yao's other concern is whether it's possible to play with Kobe, who just has a bad repuation for driving Shaq out of town. Su told Yao that he would ask his men to directly talk to Kobe and ask him to show Yao some love. Thus came the article about the interview with Kobe after the loss to the Spurs.

    It's also not conincidental that 3 more articles appeared this morning:
    1) Rudy still loves Yao and cares about him;
    2) Yao is totally upset about (you name it) the loss against the Suns and told the reporter:"The best thing about this game is that we lose. Now we will just go and play the next game." According the reporter who has been interviewing him for 3 years, Yao was not being sarcastic. He was furious;
    3) The third article interviewed some Lakers insider and reporters and they all want Yao to join the Lakers. Meanwhile, they dissed poor Milm for being a stupid Taxan who does not know how to play the game.

    I was totally shocked at reading these articles. I used to think that Yao will retire as a Rockets. Now I am not so sure. Maybe all those Yao to LA rumors were not all wishful thinking?

    Yao may or may not be thinking about getting out of Houston. I don't think anyone except Yao and his closest friends know.

    But none of the stuff given in the links give any legitimate insight into the matter. Just a bunch of speculation that you hear all the time on talk radio, or read on boards like this one. This thread should be locked.

    I didn't read the article to suggest that much. But Yao did say "the greatest harvest we got from this game was -- we lost." While not close to being "the best thing" since sometimes you can learn something by losing, it's still disheartening to read something like that out of Yao's mouth, joking or not.

    Having said that, if I had a hateful boss like JVG, and I had as much clout as Yao, I'd demand him fired or make a move myself.

    JVG is not the reason Yao Ming plays like Yao Ming. Just put that out of your minds right now you bunch of soft asses. bunch of SAOF's(soft-ass-only-fans) ; )

    and the only reason these articles from the so called top-dog in chinese journalism over in hollywood is because the Rockets are coming to L.A. tomorrow night. think that may have something to do with all this crap cropping up?

    But to soothe your concerns - because we know every one of you desire Yao Ming to stay a Houston Rocket - here is a direct quote from Yao concerning his present situation in Houston:

    "I love it here," he said. "I always have, since my rookie year. I still love it."

    put that in your pipe in smoke it!

    so you think Yao Ming is the kind of guy to give 'lip service'?

    what about his character has shown you that he is the type of guy to just give 'lip service'?

    I have to post this in NBA dish because there is already too much hatred between YOFs and YOHs in GARM.

    But I just don't understand what so many ppl upset about? Yao is averaging nearly 19pts and 9 rebs right now and both YOFs and YOHs think he is struggling. To me, those are decent numbers by any standards for NBA big men.

    And please lower your expectations, Houston Rockets fans! Yao is not Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaq or David Robinson. He is a very very good player but he won't be a great legendary figure in NBA. He could be better but he has to play in the right system and be supported by the right crew. That is the difference between him and those all-timers. Please accept the reality and move on!

    With that said, I am still proud of what he has done and I believe he will definitely be better. I will support him no matter where he is end up with.

    Life is short so please just enjoy every mins of it.

    great post. and i largely agree with it.

    the problem for fans is...he has the trade value of a legendary player right now. he would command a boatload in return. so the opportunity cost of having him around is significant. frustrating when you consider we drafted him as a #1. no one wants to get just a "good" player when you spend a #1 pick.

    I grew up in Houston, and the Rockets are the only pro bball team I ever rooted for. And I don't read in my post anywhere suggesting that I'm wishing for him to make a move (I am wishing for him to threaten it to get JVG fired, huge difference). :confused:

    Speaking of soft ass, it's funny that when my girlfriend saw the game yesterday, she commented on how perky Yao's ass is. Yao's a freakin' woman and plays like one. :mad: He needs to train his waist strength so he doesn't play like a freakin' Transformer busted at the waist (torso goes up, legs still on the ground, waist all stretched out) every time he goes up for the ball. It's all in the waist.

    JVG is ruining this team and Yao going to LA would be horrible cause Kobe deserves to lose for the rest of his career by himself. However, after last night's game and JVG's treament of Yao, I wouldn't blame him if he demanded a trade after last night.

    I just think that all these reporters are just making things up just so that they have soemthing to write about. Yao is not gonna leave houston unless soemthing drastic happens.
