Unless you have a link or source, don't bring garbage in here that you are simply making up. Mario was quoted as wanting to go to a losing team to gain experience from the other side, hence the moving to GS. You can go to the ESPN boards if you want to start making up stuff to help people agree with you.

Old Man Rock: There's no point in arguing with you anymore. Your post have no logic backing them, and now you're just stepping on the toes of everyone else with your insults. Grow up.

I remember most people saying the opposite about our teams. The magic were suppose to be a low playoff seed and our team was suppose to be missing a piece to be a contender, but whatever...

Elie may have said that afterwards, but he was all over the media here shortly after the Van Gundy hiring (when staff was being assembled) saying he "would like very much to work for the Rockets organization." It went so far as to be a formal interview, and shortly afterwards he was on 610, saying he "was confident in a position being available." Remember, his wife and kids were here. Not only that, but the Rockets was a logical organization for him to be in. Beyond the history, he was an outsider, yet knew the strengths and weaknesses of every single player (except for Yao Ming), as all of them spent time at Westside.

Next thing, he was out on the street, and all Van Gundy would say when asked was a tight-lipped "No comment," which morphed into "My staff is full."

I believe you are miquoting something that started as a second-hand report.

Regardless, it doesn't change the fact there was an open position, Elie was very qualified, coming off an NBA championship team, and JVG chose not to consider him.

Only a second-hand report if you consider the Chron quoting JVG saying it.

You said yourself it went so far as to having a formal interview -- how is that "not considering" him? I think you're taking something and trying to spin it in your favor. At least what I said you don't have to guess or interpret, JVG was quoted on saying it.

The Title of this thread is FIRE VAN GUNDY! If you don't want to read negative things about your beloved Van Gundy than I suggest you don't read threads titled FIRE VAN GUNDY. That being said I will refrain from using the Van Hitler title because while I only meant it in reference to his egocentric napoleonic type coaching style, I certainly did not mean to imply anything more than that... As for being a Rocket Clutchfan, anyone who can't even acknowledge at least a little bit that maybe Van Gundy is not the coach for this team is not a true rocket fan and more of a JVG lover who probably rooted for the firing of Rudy T! And I say that is all good but when Your beloved Van Gundy leaves the Rockets please go with him. I will remain a Clutch Rocket Fan afterwards.

This may be a shock to you, but a lot of the people on board the fire gundy ship were also on the fire rudy ship. I believe the phrase was, "get riddy Rudy" -- or something to that affect. I support the Rockets through anything, and I support the coach because I feel he is doing a good job and will be the best for the job in the end. Having different beliefs on the coach doesn't make anyone not a true Rockets fan. I'll argue with edc and r0ckets03 all day long, but I won't say they are not a true Rockets fan. Everyone on this site (more so those who contribute:p ) deserve the title true Rockets fan.

I am glad you brought the 'who probably rooted for the firing of Rudy T' part up because I think it really helps to uncover the source of your dislike for JVG. I always got the feeling it had more to do with Rudy being let go.

97.8 points their last 10 games and still the second best defense.

the rockets are gaining momentum.. here they come ole' man sour, over the mountains and through the sea, all with that no-good-nazareth-college-graduating-over-meticulous-yuppie-prick-twirp-yankee-Jeff Van Dummy at the helm. But damn me if he's not turning out to be a fine captain. I mean why, why do this to yourself? Things arent so morbid around here these days. Havent you heard, the Rockets are playing much better. If I want to experience unwavering morbidity, I'll go to a zoo and let a camel spit on me and I won't care what he's sour about. But a clutchfan, not able to enjoy the better moments of his favorite team, I have to wonder what he's so sour about? and if its just because of personal dislike of the coach, out of care and compassion for a clutchfan bretheren I want to help. I just dont know how..not yet at least.

LOL, Texas Stoke you're "help a bretheren clutchfan"statement is humorous and I will acknowledge the Jeff Van Gundy's tenure is affecting my enjoyment of the Rockets somewhat. I guess I will have to let go at some point but not quite ready yet.

Just got back from the game tonite. Pretty depressing. We could have used JJ's defense on all of those three pointers being thrown up by the Sun's taller perimeter players.

    T-Mac's interview on Rome summarized:

"Well, I spent the first part of the year passing the ball and playing slow-down offense. We were losing. I talked to Jeff. Now I'm not playing in that (offensive) system, doing what I've always done, and we're doing better."

So basically Tmac told the coach to shut up and shove his system up his own ass?

Nice to see Van Dummy commands so much respect from his superstar.

He was actually quite diplomatic about it, saying that he was "learning a lot," and "wanting to play the right way," and that "coach is no longer forcing us to always pass."

Ultimately, though, yes, T-Mac said that the Rockets started playing better when he chose to go back to "what he had always done" (offensively), and that he "doesn't play as well in a rigid system," and that "coaches (not singling out JVG) need to give the players freedom to play."

It might be time for Yao to consider his future in this team seriously when the coach is lost on his coaching and pulled by his star player. Is he and Tmac really a good match? Should he choose another team after his current contract expires?

So it can be said that Tmac thinks Van Dumpy is pretty useless?

If last night's pathetic display and coaching wasn't enough to get this fool fired, then I don't know what is. He's is ruining this franchise. Go back to TNT...you can't coach!
