A victim of the numbers game. Could he be serviceable in our system? Detriot's system is similar to ours at least defensively and we are offensively better than them by almost 2 point per game. He played under a disciplined and structured system. He could fit in nicely especially with Sura's knee problem + plus an extra roster spot open. Also Ward should be indiscrimately waived and thanked for his services (I will take Smush anyday over him).
He had his moments with Cleveland a few years back. He's worth taking a chance on, especially with Ward out.
Yep, definately. But, I don't think JVG would. Plus, we probably should wait to see what other players might be waived before we fill that roster spot.
I wish Ward could be waived now and we eat his money so that another roster space can be open for someone that can actually play. I believe the NBA rule is that one must be out of the IL before he could be waived...no?
Smush is in no way, shape, or form a point guard. He is, however, a decent prospect as a shooting guard. He showed a good ability to score with Detroit and his defense was passable, but he was shoot first, second, and third, and rarely created anything for anyone else (he'd take the shot on a 3-1 fastbreak instead of passing). Probably not what Houston needs, but he has a place in the league somewhere.
He never really made it to 'servicable' in Detroit. They were the ones calling the Bulls about swapping him for Frank Williams. When Chicago finally killed talks, they gave Parker one more week to give him a chance. We're right at the deadline for guanteeing contracts for the rest of the season, so they let him go. It's concievable that they'd sign him to a 10-day contract, but I doubt it. Evan
He wasn't what Detroit needed. That doesn't mean he didn't show something. Larry Brown is on record as saying he's already called 4 coaches recommending Smush to them. Detroit really needs a pass first, low error guy, and that's not Smush. He's a scorer with a wild streak. Detroit is giving Anthony Goldwire a go on a 10 day contract now, and he's not nearly as talented as Smush, but he's got a great assist/turnover ratio for his career. Don't know that he'll cut it either though. Brown is very picky about his point guards. Oh, and just to bring cheer to the world... Detroit released Derrick Coleman. Whoo Hoo!!!
Smuch's got some talent. He maybe worth taking a look at now that our guards are dropping like flies (will Sura go on IR again?).
What about Derrick Coleman? Power Forward Help? http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=pistonscoleman&prov=st&type=lgns
I find it odd that he was released yesterday yet he played 15 mintues tonight? Here is his stat line. S. Parker 15 1-6 1-3 7-8 0 1 0 0 0 0 1 10
Can he bury an open shot? That's the one question that should be asked of every potential signing, and if the answer is No - then stop talking to them.
