I think he can make it. He just won't be nfl ready when he leaves Texas. Someone needs to teach him better passing mechanics.
Yes, because believe it or not, he has to pass at one time or another in the NFL. He had to run today because he (and Mack Brown) didn't have enough faith in his ability to pass. Luckily for Texas, Michigan could not tackle. He wouldn't be so lucky in the NFL.
I think he is a carbon copy of Vick, so yes , even though his passing skills are limited, he so dangerous that he can lead a decent NFL team to the playoffs. His threat to run makes the DB's have to be run concious. He will make NFL defensive coordinaters pull their hair out.
He could pass in high school. I saw his 60 yard bombs at the dome. As a Young fan I wish UT would have helped him hone his passing skills instead of leading him in another direction.
Are you kidding me? How the hell would anyone put him in front of Reggie Bush and Adrian Peterson at the beginning of next season. How does one game erase the memory of a whole season of accomplishments of these two Heisman finalists? Adrian Peterson would have probably won it this year if he wasn't a freshman.
Playing agaisnt these 16, 17 year old kids who are still trying to get a date to the prom isn't exactly the same as Division 1A players.
Preach on preacha, I was at UT from 93-96 and I witnessed games of 50K attendance and being season after season of being a second rate program. These yuggins calling for Mack's head have no clue what this guy has done for this program and they need to shut up. Its just typical UT fan arrogance. And if you still think Vince can't pass you're just an idiot.
Are you guys serious? No NFL team is going to take a QB that they have to teach how to pass. A team will make him a WR and that is what he will play in the NFL.
For a while I thought UT ought to play Mock at QB and make Vince the next Roy Williams but he has to have the ball in his hands every play to be at his most dangerous. Will he pass? then the DB's have to stay in coverage ; freeing Vince up to run for 15 yards a pop. Will he run? then the DB's are having to be ready to come up in run support and the receivers can burn them deep. As for Peterson and Bush..well White won the Heisman last year, had as good or better year this year and didn't win. I think people are seeing that Vincent Young can single handedly win big-time games by his own efforts. Bush can't and Peterson doesn't have to.
Haha, thats hilarious. Everyone knows Benson carried the team and everyone knows it. UT would have won a lot more games without Young then they would have won without Benson. Last year Vince had Roy Williams and BJ Johnson, what was his excuse then?
uh, he was a freshman. I think he will have impressive passing stats next year when they flesh out the receiving corps. And if Martellus Bennet signs with UT he may have 1000yards from the TE position.
The same as Simm's. Seriously, Vince didn't even start the whole year last season, it was his first year playing and his stats were decent.
vince did great today but everytime he passes the ball i have to hold my breath. he worked with mcnair in the off season (they are very good friends) and hopefully mcnair will help him become a better passer. if vince gets a solid passing game...might as well gift wrap the national championship trophy in burnt orange..
I don't see why Vince Young can't have a more successful career than say Kordell Stewart, He has the tools and some of these Pro QB coaches can turn an option QB into a pocket passer.
(1) He's a QB. They're not. (2) Look at the player's OU is losing this year. There will be tremendous fall-off. (3) Bush isn't an every-down back. And he's not really a true WR. He made a helluva # of explosive plays. For a player like that to win a Heisman, he's got to not only make those plays, but make them at the right times. Betting on that happening just right isn't precisely a good wager. That said, Young is about one of 10 guys who have a decent (read: not handicapped by coming out of the blue) shot at winning the Heisman.
Uh, first of all he was a freshman. Secondly, do you really not remember the r****ded rotating quarterback stuff at Texas between Vince and Chance Mock last year? Third, that statement about Young and Benson is just not true or at the very least cannot be proven. They made each other better because of the threat of the other player to take it to the house at any time. Oh, and lastly how about 4th and 18 with the BCS bowl on the line. Need I keep going? Finally, this crap about Michigan couldn't tackle just doesn't hold water with me or other Texas fans. If that's the case, no college football team can tackle well because Vince does this to everyone. All he does is make big plays. I've watched plenty of UT football the last two years and every time Vince got into a game, even as a frosh, he would do something to just dazzle you as a fan. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way. In conclusion, BOTH Benson and Young carried this team, and for you to say otherwise is just silly.
I just took the red-eye in from LAX from the Rose Bowl. OH. MY. GOD! Best Trip Evahhhh!!!!!!!!!! I've got about 90 pictures from before, during and after the game that I will put up on my site later this morning. What a freakin' adventure!!!!
Michigan had their chances to put Young on the field. The guy is simply an amazing and strong runner. He doesn't stop moving. If anyone can't tackle it's Texas. They couldn't stop anyone yesterday. Still, it was a great game.
