Congrats Texas. I'm an Ohio State fan so I was torn on who to root for (Big 10 loyalty vs. Hatred of UM). So I went back and forth and will tell you it was a great game. Looking forward to seeing UT at OSU in September!
Congrats to Mack Brown. Say what you want about his x and o skills or his record against OU but he took a team that lost Roy Williams, Sloan Thomas and BJ Johnson to an 11-1 record and a Rose Bowl win, all the while being second guessed by his own fans (myself included). He deserved this win. Vince Young. What a player. Can we go ahead and put him on the Heisman watchlist for next year now? No sense in waiting. Can we also go ahead and put this game on ESPN Classic...like tomorrow?
Cedric Benson is getting a reputation of completely disappearing in big games.. I wonder if this will hurt his draft stock.
I had to laugh when I heard one of the ABC announcers say that.. he had a great game (on the ground, not in the air), but c'mon.. can you seriously ride one performance to heisman consideration?
And a wave of silence falls over the Haters.... God, what a game, I knew we would pull it out every second of the way, even as my dad sits on the other side of the couch telling me what trash my team is through the whole game. Feels DAMN good.
We were witness to history, an all-time performance only topped by Flutie's that determined the national championship I think.
Yes. It happens quite often, with one game that gets a player on the map for the Heisman...whether it's a bowl game to end the previous year or something early on in the season. You can win it with one performance too, particularly if it comes against ND.
A performancce like that in front of a national audience? Hell yes he's the front runner for the 2005 Heisman. Besides it's not a fluke, he did pretty much the same against Kansas. I think he will continue to be superhuman.
The best college football game I've ever seen. And I would have said that even if the Horns lost. Just incredible plays on both sides. Great playcalling by Lloyd Carr in the second half, I really enjoyed the series in the 4th with the flea flicker, lateral, etc. Mack Brown was pretty smart just giving the ball to Vince to do his thing. Vince Young was really a man playing among boys. Michigan had the more well rounded offense, and their defense bottled up one of the best RBs in NCAA history, but they had absolutely no answer for VY.
At the beginning of the year, every team has someone on the heisman map. Hell, Vince was on the map this year. However, just like this year, he will have to play OU at some time and when that happens, bye bye heisman.
