Here is some interesting news concerning the status of Jim Jackson in the NBA. Although people might be quick to take my comments with a grain of salt, understand that I am a Toledo, Ohio native (as is Jim Jackson) Jim Jackson and I have many mutual freinds, I have met him and live near his Toledo home....

Word is that Jim Jackson will be coming back home in a few weeks permanently, will probably receive his pension and all that and is most likely just going to RETIRE from the NBA.

Way to KILL the teams reputation as a class act organization by prematurely ending the career of a class act player.

To get a player of relatively the same or even less value.

AND IF THIS WAS ALL JUST TO GET RID OF NACHBAR, screw VAN GUNDY and the ROCKETS ORGANIZATION....

there is no justification for this crap

I went to the CLEVELAND game yesterday in Cleveland more pissed at the Rockets than i have ever been. And i've been a Houston fan since i was in the third grade (always lived in Toledo). This doesn't help our chances any more, and it doesn't help our chances to snag free agents in the future...I can gaurantee that. Players around the league are taking notes.....

Man, even though it's a rumor, I wouldn't be surprised if he did retire.

The Rockets couldn't gain respect from the NBA for the longest time. Now they're going to start getting the other end of it.

In his case, getting traded 10+ times can get to a ball player. The guy has freaking talent. Why won't anyone give him a chance to keep a home?

They're taking notes alright. Nobody wants to leave Houston.. the toyota center.. and most of all the Lexas Lounge

Once a player has been pampered at the Lexas Lounge in the Toyota Center they never want to play for another organization again.

    Nobody asked him to retire....

I personally would feel blessed to be able to play for ANY NBA team. These guys so take what they have for granted. I mean he has a job paying him millions, I wish I did...especially doing something I love to do. Why would anybody feel sorry for him??

i think we gave him a chance and everyone loved him here and his game. I think he thought he finally found a home that had room for him. And if any rumors are true that he was traded because they needed to throw some one in to get Nachbar, then i would be royally pissed.

Being traded is part of the business but he has the right to be mad if they traded him because they needed to get rid of someone else and he has given his all for this team till this point.

I'm sure it was a slap in the face to him to see who he was traded for as well. 2 players go and 1 comes back with about the same or less talent then himself. It would suck.

And everyone says they get paid millions and all that stuff and they should suck it up that's just BS. Put this scenario into any job and you would get mad. Doesn't matter what job you do or how much you make.

Your telling me if you gave your all working at McDonalds and became a manger over time and have realized you like it there and don't care about working there and the next day they come tell you that hey we are making the fry cook the manager and you can go ahead and leave. That would piss you off just as it did for JJ.

Everyone makes the money they make becuase of their job and what they do. I don't hate on them or call them babies because they are talented and do something we can't all do, as well as make millions for their owners. Everyone is compensated on their abilities or what have you. There is a reason CEO's make that much and other highly skilled people get rewarded. So money does not come into play in this situation.

it has come into play before like Spreewell saying he can't feed his family. That right there is BS....comments like that are pathetic and should be thrown out. Most players do realize their job and take it as it goes like JJ but people like Spree make them look spoiled.

Oh come on...Jim Jackson is going to retire because he's traded to a bad team. What a cry baby! How many good teams has he been on? I loved JJ's game and I hate the fact we traded him, but get over it already!!

JJ has been on 10 teams already and is an older player... the thought of going to a 2-25 team in a new NBA city may have just been too much.

I would think that JJ would just request a trade to a contending team, but I wonder if he also was feeling like he found a home finally in Houston, as far as the NBA goes. At his age, he may not need the money, and certainly not the hassle.

Boki on the other hand, at his age and with the total lack of playing time he has gotten in 2-1/2 seasons, is there with bells on.

I still think that someone will counsel him that no matter how much money you have currently, you can always go for making a few million more and that he'll return... especially since in a few years he simply won't be able to make that money anymore. But it is interesting info just the same, if accurate.

I agree JJ got screwed. He was the reason Rockets made playoffs last year. Just shows you which way this organization is going. JJ is or was the most consistent player on the team, but with the moves that have been made the last couple of years this doesn't surprise me Sorry JJ.

It would suck to get traded so many freaking times. He's just the kind of asset that everyone needs, so he's easy to move. Although I don't think he necessarily got "screwed" in this situation, I can certainly understand his feelings.

I wish Jim well in his retirement if that's what he chooses to do. No matter what he does, I'll fondly remember him as a Rocket.

    Yeah..no freaking kidding!!!

Quick, Jim...trade jobs with me. Go close on the sale of a business tomorrow and I'll go hang out with an NBA team in New Orleans...and we'll swap paychecks too!!!

What is so hard to understand Max??????

He does not want to play for a loser at this stage in his career, and he has DECIDED that he has had enough.

He has the right to retire whenever he wants, probably has made enough money etc....

Maybe he will unretire after this year...maybe not.

But he can do as he wants, it is his life. He is not a slave, he does not have to report if he wants to retire.

I think he will force a trade or comeback at the end of the year to end the contract. He should do whatever he wants, it is his life.

So do yall agree with this move. Did this really help the Rockets they keep on getting older and now they're looking at Eric Snow.

I personally think JJ should retire and leave on his "own terms".

I was a big fan of his and hope that whatever he does it goes well for him.

Honestly if you take the amount of money out of the equation how many of you guys would be pissed about the situation if it involved your work place?

You start a job here in Houston give your all to them thinking you have finally found a job that wants you. The bosses all praise you and give you all the motivation in the world. Now lets say your secretary is having problems with other secretaries in the office.

So they want to ship her off to another branch in Alaska but say they are sending both of you together because in the company they look at you as a team and you have to go and they replace you with someone else and their secretary.

I think you would be pissed to be sent to somewhere that you dont' want to be because of someone else or a place that is just crappy all in all when all you have done for the company has been giving your all to them from day one.

Everyone keeps bringing money into it. but the same scenario in any job and take away the money you would be pissed and probably look for another job or quit from that company.

Everyone gets paid based on what they bring to the table. They get paid millions cause they do what we can't and make millions and more for the team. Everyone can take their job for granted. People can be a sacker at Randalls and take that for granted and get fired and stuff.....it's part of life.

Yes, it happens all the time. But if JJ is still young, he may have time to recover and then move to NO to start all over again. Unfortunately he runs out of time. To him, it is not about money, it is not about so called business, it is about winning.

JJ is hurt. He probably feels that he will spend the final one and half year of his career playing for the worst team in NBA and losing. Why waste time?

Whatever JJ ends up with, I will respect his choice, and I repect him as a person.
