You said JJ got screwed because its not about basketball, its about life and family. You said it. Its right here in this thread. You said it because JJ has no notice to move his family.

Now you are saying he got screwed because he went to the worst team in the league. You said it. Its right here in this thread.

But somehow, those rules don't apply to Steve (who got traded to the worst team in the league) or wouldn't apply to

You are changing your criteria to fit a flimsy argument.

The fact is, JJ didn't get screwed because he is a professional NBA player and NBA players get traded all the time, regardless of who they are and what record their team has. JJ is not the first player to go from a good team to a bad team in mid-season, but hes one of the few to refuse to show up to his new team.

Just admit that you hate JVG and thats why you are saying JJ got screwed.

    Codell,

How can you compare being traded in mid season for a lessor player, to a horrible franchise to being traded in the summer?

    How is that even comparible.

Dude, I know what I mean when I post....RIGHT HERE IN THIS THREAD !!! and I was responding to Faos' point about it being like a transfer.

If you have reading comprehension issues, then go to Sylvan, I hear they can help.

Yes, I hate JVG, but that is not why I think JJ got screwed, I think it because he DID get screwed.

    DaDa,

Its your opinion that Wesley is a lesser player. So I dont know how that supports anything.

Again, NBA players get traded all the time.

If Mo had been traded to NO, you would have been celebrating.

Ill check out Sylvan. Maybe they have somehting for hypocrites too. :)

I love when you go to the "im smarter than you" or "i have better basketball knowledge than you".

Its usually a sign of your last desperate attempt to save face. :D

    damn. poor jj.

i don't buy the "don't mind the fact that you've been traded... it just means that someone else thinks that you'll fit it with their team" bit.

how many times has it been for this guy? he's been "not a perfect fit" for half of the nba. :(

well if Sprewell's kids are starving then I can only imagine how bad JJ's kids are doing on only a couple of mill....

Life deals and you roll with the punches.

At least JJ has some choices based upon being able to bank some real dollars to retire on during the last 12 years. He can walk away and spend all of the time he wants with his family. As long as he is ready for the cash flow dropoff.

Most of us have to get up tomorrow morning and go to work to pay the bills.

I like JJ but it is difficult to feel "shattered" for him.

No, I believe it is beyond that. It is about the faith he had for this organization, in the late stage of his career, he believed he had better chance winning with this team. He did what he was asked to do and played his heart out just to get more wins. It is not about couple million dollars. First, his contribution deserved more than he was paid, second, NO won't pay a penny less if JJ plays for them. It is all about winning.

I totally understand his frustration and anger. He felt his dream got destroyed and he had to start all over again. His career life is near the end and he may never have a chance to win championship again. It is brutal, especially for a life long journeyman like JJ. I think he is tired of traveling.

To those who are still arguing, if someday Yao doesn't sign the extension or T-Mac demands a trade again if things don't work out, don't cry out loud. Remember what you guys said today, they are playing for NBA, it is all business!

I guess it sucks a lot more for him knowing from the inside that this deal was about Boki and he kind of just got thrown in it to get rid of Boki and not about him in general.

I would be royally peved as well if that was the actual scenario.

I am very disappointed in JJ. I do not understand how he could be so unprofessional at this stage of his career. Even though I like him, it would serve him right if the Hornets suspended him for the remainder of his contract and refused to let him resign with another team. :(

    Boki - 30 minuts, 7 point (2-7 shooting, 1-4 3pt range), 7 rebounds

Oh, yeah, he's gonna bust out. :)

    - personally, i feel that JJ represented everything van gundy wanted in a player: tough, hard-nosed defender, gritty, never stopped hustling. weren't there several articles last year where they called JJ van gundy's pet cuz van gundy was always praising him? so i can understand why he is pissed.

    - about not reporting, i don't pretend to understand what he is going through - and honestly, would any of us want to constantly have to pick up and more our familes or be uprooted from home for extended periods of time?

    - i just saw the chron article where ward is out for 6 weeks, so maybe they felt they HAD to make this trade to get a quality pg. i think tonite's rotation represented what van gundy is going to have to do, basically shorten his rotation and give pt to these new guys in the rotation so that they can learn the system.

    i can live with:
    Sura
    JBarry
    McGrady
    J Howard
    Yao

    bench:
    mutombo
    taylor
d wesley (although i can see wesley eventually replacing j barry as a starter)

if by some act of god, i'm all up for bringing JJ back. these reneged things can be smoothed over ala horry when he was supposedly traded to Det for sean elliott.

What ever happened to your chant about "it's a business"? They felt a need to move him, they did it. It's a business. And no, this wasn't a "transfer". Lots of families are getting members laid off before Christmas and Thanksgiving. JJ's going to a paying job... be content. It's a business!

I totally agree and this has left a very bad taste in my mouth as JJ has went from being JVG's favorite player to trade fodder in only a year. JJ will be greatly missed in the locker room for his veteran leadership and there's gotta be a sense of distrust amongst the players towards mgt. which could effect future FG signings for our players to extend their deals as well as bringing in new FA's.

JJ deserved better than this and I hope he's released and/or we can include a second round draft pick to possibly ammend the deal. Outside of TMac, JJ was my favorite Rocket and I thought he had the most money outside shot. I'm really disappointed in CD right about now and the Peter Vescey article in the NY Post is starting to ring truer IMO. :(

I feel a little bit bad for JJ, but not too much. It appears like a breach of loyalty to trade the guy AGAIN after he was (at least from an outside perspective) doing all that was asked of him, and after both sides made public statements that he had "found a home" in Houston. But we really don't know what went on in the locker room, and he is still making lots of money (even if his contract is somewhat reasonable compared to other NBA players).

Oh, and I think codell just likes to pick fights with people he knows DoD does not like, so that he can suck up to DoD a bit more.
