I apologize for creating another trade idea thread, but this one I think is a good one. I'm on this board a lot and I haven't seen anything like this proposed and since this is the Game Action & Roster Moves forum, I am offering a trade idea.

    Rockets trade: Maurice Taylor/Clarence Weatherspoon
LA Lakers trade: Brian Grant/Jumaine Jones

    Minutes per game:
    Grant - 15.3 MPG

    Why Lakers do this:
Not sure if the Lakers would be interested. Judging their team is very hard to do and trying to do so raises a lot of questions. Rudy was always a big fan of Taylor, perhaps he would take him back? Grant's minutes have been in decline, perhaps Rudy wants more of a scoring punch off of the bench instead of defense/rebounding? Hard to tell. Also, what happens to Jones once Devean George returns from his injury?

Basically, this is a trade of 2 year, 1 year contacts for a trade of 2 year, 1 year contracts of bench players.

    Why Rockets do this:
Grant nearly fits the mold of exactly what we are looking at PF. He's hardly even playing in LA yet he could be a God-send for us.

Jones is a versatile player that can hit the 3 point shot and play multiple positions. He's a good defender and is very underrated

    OR....

Perhaps if we get real lucky.....

Add Boki and/or JJ plus a pick to the original package, Lakers throw in Caron Butler. Very unlikely though.

I do not know if LA would do this, but Grant would help us more than Taylor can. Grant has a lot of heart- he got a fat contract when traded or signed by Miami from Portland for his heart and hustle. He is an effective banger who could take pressure off Yao. By that he would make those around him better.

If Yao was able to score and create rather than constantly take all the beating underneath, Yao could play to his strengths of finesse-creative- polish type game.

Maybe LA would do this bec ause Grant has a fat contract.

    I wish......

If LA woudn't, then I wish New Orleans would trade Magloire, or CD could make a deal for Wilcox from the Clippers...

We need a banger to allow Yao freedom--sorry to rehash old topics...but the need remains...

TMurphy resigned w/ GSW and nearly makes the max. I like the player and would love to have him on this team but he makes alot of money. GS is committed to him as a building block for their future once they realize he will never become a franchise player they may look to deal him. (who knows) I like the BGrant trade he is a rebounder and banger (ala Fortson) but in better shape.

The Grant trade makes a lot of sense I just don't know if the Lakers would bite or not.

Not to keep talking this trade up, but now with JJ + Boki gone getting Jumaine Jones would be really nice as well.:)

What about MTaylor for Alan Henderson (Dallas)?

We get a rebounder with an expiring contract. Dallas gets a younger player who can score and give Nowitski (sp) a breather. I aslo worry about Deke getting hurt later in the season and at Dallas I understand he has experience at center.

The salary numbers work and we would have a lot of cap space this summer.

I don't know if Dallas would trade Henderson for Mo. What is Henderson's contract like? I hope the Rockets won't throw in a first round pick just to get rid of Mo.
If the 610 report is true I think they did the right thing by not giving a 1st round pick to get PJ.

The more I think about it the more I think that we are gonna pull a deal with Toronto for Rose and probably Marshall. If Toronto really wants to dump Rose, I don't know of another team that would be willing to take him on, besides us. They get MoT and some cap relief with Deke and/or Spoon/TE and we get Rose and Marshall.

We would have Rose and Wesley both good ball handlers able to get the ball up and into TMac and Yao. Wesley and Marshall would be your spot up shooters along with Rose's mid range game and TMac's shooting. Rose could play up top with Wesley and TMac on the wings. On defense, you've got Wesley matched up with the small, quick point guards and then Rose and TMac with the size to match up with the SG and SF. And TMac and Rose are both decent rebounders. Then you got Barry as your shooter off the bench and Sura as your slasher off the bench.

Basically, we would be trading JJ, Boki, Lue, Deke, Mo, and whatever for Wesley, Barry, Rose, and Marshall.

I was watching Rose on ESPN classic the other night when he was playing in a system with the Pacers. He defended decently and was slashing and hitting the midrange jumpers. Yeah I know it was 4 years ago, but I really don't think Jalen's skills have deteriorated. It's his attitude playing for teams going nowhere that has taken a nosedive. If put in a better situation, I think he may respond. At the worst, he couldn't be any worse for this team than Mo. And who else can we possibly trade Mo for now anyways? Marshall canning those long 3 balls. Make it happen CD.

A Toronto trade involving Marshall would be fantastic. The Lakers trade would help as well, but I would prefer the Toronto trade.
