I think that's a reasonable worry. 1st round draft picks at this poinnt are something we should take advantage of. There's no other way we're going to get younger.

I kind of like the trade because I think Wesley is a hell of shooter. YES, i think he shoots better than JJ. Remember, all the Rockets want to do is surround Yao and TMac with good shooters...that has always been the plan but it didn't work out this year. But now they bring in Wesley and Jon Barry and i think these 2 players are decent shooters and WILL KILL TEAMS for doubling Yao and TMac.

The last time i watched Wesley play was against the Kings a week or so ago and he literally shoot the light out and bring his team back into the game...man that guy can shoot no doubt about it!!!

Now of course the Rockets are not going to start Barry and Wesley out there, it'll probably be Wesley, Sura, Tmac, Yao and Taylor. Tmac to SF.

Now if the game is on the line...i have no doubt JVG is going to put Wesley, Barry and TMAC and Yao on the court at the same time. This my friend is going to be the KILLER LINEUP!!!!! I am looking forward to seeing them on the court....

The Rox still need a good PF though.

seems like nobody can makes much sense out of the trade - it must make sense.

    Does anyone sell used cars?

I have to speculate that there are reasons (locker room?) which can't be revealed to us or the buyer. Afterall, why did the Kings let JJ go after a great season with them?

Again, I will like the trade better if it's Bowen, instead of Boki

Now now, just because the guy has had his fill of stupid personnel moves made during the CD regime is no reason to slam him and start chanting my Rockets right or wrong. Being a fan doesn't mean you have to check your brain at the door and while it's perfectly OK for you to continue to pretend that this is the type of move that winning organizations make, it's just not the same for someone else. At least the guy cares enough about the Rockets to get angry - the best I could do was muster up a slight giggle. NOTHING that CD does surprises or shocks me anymore.

amen....some ppl here act like being 35 is one foot in the grave.

some players can continue to be effective into their late 30's...depends on the player and the position.

swingmen dont take the damage that big guys take, so if they depend on their smarts, and skills...they can still be valuable contributors...

besides...it isnt like these guys(barry,Wesley) are expected to be longterm answers....they are here to help us this year...hopefully, the front office guys will be active over the offseason trying to acquire some better longterm pieces.

Excellent post! I'm one that likes the trade and knows that something else is coming right around the corner that will make sense of all this.

JJ was let go because of the money he would be asking for after having such a great year. They couldn't afford JJ and that's why they let him go.

    I hope you're right.

Any ideas of what might be in the pipeline?

Exactly. Would I rather have a much younger team that could be together for years? Sure. But it doesn't happen that way in today's NBA. Does everyone forget about what role-players the Lakers had around Kobe & Shaq in thier championship years (A.C. Green, Rodman, Shaw, Rick Fox, etc.)? They continuosly surrounded thier big two with good, smart, veteran role-players who all were good character and chemistry guys despite age.

So you remember the teams that had Sleepy Floyd, Buck Johnson, Dave Jamerson, Earl Cureton, etc? Oh wait a minute - never mind...

Ugh, what a dumb trade. There better be another one in the works or CD/JVG have just confirmed my suspicion that they would finish dead last in a fantasy/sim sports league with their inept decision making on personnel matters.

I was shocked to hear this trade but let's just wait and see before we judge it. Wesley I think still has a good year left...wouldn't you lose some motivation on a horrible team? Like Vince Carter, he could also be rejuvenated on a potential playoff team. I think he can give us a good spot-up shooting PG, something we really needed. And if Tmac moves to SF, which he has to if we don't make any more trades for a 3, we would have 3 good shooting players around Yao in Barry, Wesley, Tmac. We do lose a little D, but we get more offense...isn't that what we always complain about w/the Rox? I think he fits our team more as a PG, just not SG which I hope he doesn't play. But at least he won't jack up bad shots like JJ.

No ideas just my gut...I mean, does everyone really think that CD and JVG are done making moves? I think Padgett is staying because of his versatility and probably Howard. I bet we see Mo moved next as I have a feeling JVG thinks he's a cancer. Now that we have some scorers, I bet we see a purely rebounding type PF come our way. Not sure about Spoon and Bowen.

wesley's stats in NO are pretty bad...a lot worse than JJ's...maybe Wesley will flourish in Houston under JVG's offensive genius?;)
