I have two kids, one is 3 & another one is 1, the 3 years old always makes some noises/actions to get the attention, even though he knows he was wrong..
this "Pass 1st, shoot 2nd" guy is my 3 years old boy.

    Yup.

He's not the only one though. I have a 12 year old cousin on this board, him and a couple of his friends post on this board once in a while, mainly to show their love for Yao. Many times they get the "Santa doesn't exist, and he is fat" response from some, it's really silly.

Is it against chinese religion to dunk over General Tso's daughter?

Dudes, I was kidding. I like Yao. I know that "chinese" is not a religion. Just funnin'.

I still say that say that P1, S2 has some valid points though.

    Consistency is all I crave.

I fully understand your sentiment in regards to expectations and other parts a result of relative deprevation.

The problem I have here is the notion that the biggest should be the best mentality. This has been said from time to time that being the tallest or biggest does little to nothing for any player when it comes to rebounding, shot blocking, assisting and even scoring. They are all skill sets that a few develop better than others. Remember that Yao did not start playing this game the same time folks like Shaq, Amare and co. started playing it - Yao started post-puberty (around his mid teen years if my memory serves me right). His numbers should not be considered not good enough by attempting to correlate it with his height.

So please lets not confuse his height/seize with his production - there should be no correlation [I wish I could put it better than this].

    Talking about number one picks;

Kenyon Martin = about 16 points per game while earning the max.

    Kwame Brown anyone?

Curry? Was this baby Shaq not a number overrall?

The list goes on forever. This no. 1 pick arguement is null and void. Go to nbadraft.net and review all the top overall in the last ten years and tell me who you would have chosen over Yao. For now only Timothy Duncan comes to mind.

Meh, he is a slow jumper who doesn't jump high to begin with, not to mention slow laterally so unless the ball is coming straight down to him any height advantage is negated by quicker players who may not be as tall but are infinitely quicker to the ball. Not to mention the alligator arms.

    P1S2,

Can you name 2 centers better than Yao?

Is Shaq 2 points and 2 rebounds away from sucking? Or is Yao already dominant in december cuz he's putting up same numbers as Shaq?

Name 15 players in the league better than Yao. You can pretend Yao has already hit his prime at 24.

Yeah, this is one of the best thread titles I have ever seen. It precisely sums up what the thread starter says in his original post. I gave an extra star to this thread just because of the title.

Ok lets not for get that Yao only avg. 12 shots a game and plays on 32 minutes a game pretty damn good stats to me imagine if he averaged 18-20 shots a game and play 36-38 a game?Think about it!

Maybe he hasn't hit his prime yet, but he better do it pretty soon if he is going to have a hof career. I think by the time he reaches 30, his skills are going to start diminishing - and he is going to become even slower than he is now. So, if he's going to take another 3 years to develop, that'll only leave a 3 year window playing at max potential - that seems kind of short.

Once upon a time my goal for the GARM was to start threads, no matter how ridiculous or inflammatory, just to get as many responses as possible. However, that desire went away about after 2 months of being here.

Yet we have someone in the thread starter who has been here 2 years longer than me or 5 and a half years total, and he still exhibits these desires and tendencies! Amazing!!!!!!

Hmm ok, you havent watched too many Rox games it seems

Yet you speak as if you watch as many games as some of us on the board, who sees the double and triple teaming thatoccurs after the 1st quarter, maybe in addition to watching more games, u need to not turn the game off after the first quarter

They made it to 1 final and got destroyed by the Rox. How about picking a more successful tandem, like Shaq and Kobe, mr "I've been around basketball for a long time"

    HotBalla,

[Clearing throat]...I see plenty of games, watch replays on TV, have NBA League Pass, read the paper, follow up here on the BBS, talk sports quite a bit, and play organized ball. I'm not a baggy-pants wearin' "hot ballah" who yells "hollah" everytime he makes a layup.

Now, your point about Penny and Shaq is misplaced. That combo right now is light years ahead of T-Mac and Yao. Period. The Magic lost that series because their role players couldn't keep up with ours. The Rockets had better overall team chemistry. You do remember Nick "The Brick" Anderson's two missed free throws, and Dennis Scott's terrbile shooting touch that series, don't you?

You get way too offended when your opinions are challenged. Relax. Go visit Pamela Handerson. Something. Geez.

    P1,S2.

    You are still here.

Is Yao 2 rebounds and 2 points away from dominance?

Or is Shaq 2 rebounds and 2 points away from sucking floppy donkey dick?

    Clove,

Shaq is in the decline of his career, and as a rookie - a less hyped-up rookie, I might add - averaged better numbers across the board than Yao is puttin up right now.

You want two centers that are better than Yao right now? Admittedly, that is hard to do. But here are six players that are very close, numerically speaking: (1) Tim Duncan; (2) Brad Miller; (3) Emeka Okafor; (4) Amare Stoudamire (listed as a center, but more of a natural PF); (5) Ben Wallace; and (6) Jermaine O'Neal (see comments about Amare).

Now, this list is even more defensible when you consider the fact that it is nearly impossible to evaluate one player in isolation of the rest of the players on his team; this is what drives GMs nuts. On our team, for example, Brad Miller would thrive in the absence of Chris Webber, as he did last year before Fab Five Freddy came back from his knee injury.
