Sorry I know I'm off-topic here but it surprised me how little interest there even is in Orange Bowl tickets this year. Last year before they announced teh pairings to the BCS games there was a good indication that the Orange Bowl would match up Ohio State and miami for a matchup, leaving Florida State to goto the Fiesta vs KSU. Att eh time teh Orange Bowl had ticket packages for $300 to get 2 tickets, parking pass, tickets to the pre-game batch and other things. The really nice thing was if you bought tickets you woudl also have the option for this year (Ntl Championship game). Well I bought a set last year and as soon as they announced teh pairings I knew I woudl lose money last year, since Florida St-Maimi would not draw well (re-match and they opened this year together). I think I sold them for $225 for the pair. I fully expected to make some cash this year. I picked up another set (so i had 4 tickets to teh game) and each package cost me $545 this year (Orange Bowl increased the prices). Still I remember going to the Fiesta Bowl to see OSU play Miami and knew individual tickets were costing $500-600 each (and those were not great seats). But as you can see USC and all 24 of their fans who travel to games ends up going to the game. I ended up making just over $100 on the 4 tickets combined on e-bay. Anyways sorry to de-rail the thread just had to vent! Merry Christmas everyone!
Someone pls tell me who these tens of thousands of middle-class couples are who spend $1,000 to go to a football game. That's spending 5-6 dollars per MINUTE.
College football fans. In Tempe 2 years ago to see OSU-Maimi there was literally 100,000 OSU fans in town to see the game which only held 60,000 people. it was crazy to see all the fans. But Ohio State is like Texas, Notre dame and other schools here if there is a big game people will find a way there. And literally the tickets were selling for that (over $500 each). It was absolutely crazy. There was OSU fans who joined Miami's booster club to get tickets for the game since it was possible to joing their booster club for a couple hundred dollars. I don't know how it is in Texas and other big football schools but to get season football tickets at OSU you have to donate $1,000/year to get pretty bad tickets. I have a client who gives over $10k/year and all they can get is end zone tickets and even they were not able to get tickets to teh Fiesta Bowl just because they did it on priority (most money for the longest time).
Same at UT, as of the Mack Brown era. I called back in 2000, and it would take several thousand a year for the possibility to buy endzone season tickets.
I just checked on ebay, and Rose Bowl tickets are selling for way below face. Good luck selling them.
I bought mine at face value, but I know a LOT of people who are being forced to sell them at nearly 50% below face value. If you're really in a bind, try houston/austin/dallas craigslist or the swap meet at hornfans.
I live just a few miles from the Stadium. I may be interested. I will check with family tonight to see if they have bought tickets already.
It is families like this one, Cohen, in this thread - you know the ones on a *limited* budget: And I think it is safe to say that 4chuckie has replaced the Voice of Reason as the worst typist here.
