Linksys wireless router/wireless game adapter(for xbox)/wireless PCI card Sofa/Loveseat slipcovers(damn dogs) coat money food gift cards best buy gift card sandwich maker/grill candy(lord knows I need that) cookbook misc. food items This is probably the smallest x-mas haul I ever had in my 30+ years of life and that is fine by me. I've been spoiled for way too long. So much so, in fact, that I've come to resent it and despise x-mas. I would be happy with no x-mas gifts received the rest of my years of existence.
I don't even deserve that although I'm not disputing the fact that I probably belong on the naughty list. Did anyone notice that gift cards seemed to be everywhere this year? Why even buy gifts at all? Just get everyone on your list a gift card and let them buy whatever they want. It kind of defeats the purpose of x-mas...doesn't it? I guess if you can absolutely not figure out what to get someone...get them a gift card. But, I think the gift card is also an excuse for some easy x-mas shopping. Just go on-line and buy a gift card. You don't even have to give any effort to actually try to find something you think someone would like. Just let them deal with it later. I know it is better than nothing but it seems to be the norm now. Pretty soon...everyone will get only gift cards every x-mas. I think I saw there were 17 billion dollars worth of gift cards in circulation for this x-mas and the retailers are wanting everyone to spend those this year as it affects their bottom line for this year. Also, picture this scenario. You(maybe not I...lol) spend many hours thinking about and shopping for x-mas gifts for relatives. This is never easy. So, you end up getting them some pretty cool gifts. What do you get? Gift cards. Sheesh...we might as well not even exchange gifts then. This ritual of giving something just for the sake of giving something when nobody needs anything...?!?!?!? Why would one party put forth such a huge effort while the other just buys gift cards? The lopsidedness of it all reeks of x-mas diarreah.
