    Hildago 40+ HR
    Alou 30+ HR.

wow! Who would have ever imagined a day when the Astros would have these kind of numbers. How scary is this team going to be next year!!

    1. When did Bagwell hit his 50th? I thought he was still around 44.

    2. We had those numbers this year and it didn't help us.

This team had no closer, lost Biggio, and lost Alou. I don't like excuses. But that is three all stars lost for major parts of the season. We will be back in first next year. Especially if Bagwell's demands are met. This division is weak. And we are still the best team in it.

Bagwell will get 50. He achieves whatever he wants.

We all know Bags and Alou can hit. If Alou was healthy all year, he would probably win the MVP. As it stands, Bagwell is having a monster season. If Drayton doesn't re-sign Bags, the 'stros will be the laughingstock of the league.

I have been pleasantly suprised by Hidalgo. He is gonna be a good one. Kinda like a Jose Cruz with power.

Bagwell joined select company (again) Thursday night. He scored his 140th run. This is the second time he has accomplished this, joining Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig as the only players to ever do it twice.

    This is true, but...

Who will be our closer next year?
    A. Wagner - Who says he can come back and have the same effectiveness?
    B. Dotel - We had him this year. Sure, he can benefit from most experience, but how much better can he be? Hard to say.

Biggio - How old is he? Born December 14, 1965. Well, next year he'll be another year older. And, did you see his numbers for this year? Don't tell me we really missed a .268 hitter with 35 RBI, 67 Rs, 13 2Bs, 8 HRs, and 12 SBs. Biggio is one of my favorite Astors ever, but he had a bad year, and hence when he got hurt, it didn't hurt the team as much as if it had been 1998.

Alou - As much as I like the guy, when's the last time he played a full season for us? I'm not saying he never will, I'm just saying I wish he had a better track record health-wise. Also, his defense gave him some problems this year that sometimes nullified his bat.

    -----------------

I am an Astro fan. But, I'm also a realist. I like many of the guys, but there's no way we can compete with the pitching staff we have now. If McLane makes some big FA acquistions or some blockbuster trades that benefit us, then that'll be great. But, what Drayton did this year has soured me on him a little. The ballpark is great and the team isn't. Which means we are not gettin fair value for our entertainment dollar.

The Astros are only 6 homers behind the all time NL record of 239. The ML record is 264. They may get there, but not likely.
